The problem for me is although the GMTV brand is gone its being taken over by ITV Breakfast and in essence it's the same behind the scenes operation just a different look show

Absolutely wrong it is a completely new management structure, every single member of the management team is new from Deputy Editor to Head of Programmes. The behind the scenes operation is made up of a very skilled and experienced team of journalists, creative staff and technical staff who have worked on numerous programmes during their careers and can (and have) adapt to any style of programming the management want to produce.

I am bias towards Daybreak/Lorraine for obvious reasons but I do have enough experience to realise that things take time to settle in and am big enough to admit that some things need addressing and I'm sure that will happen.

Well said Cross Channel. Also, well done to the team - I, personally am loving Daybreak!

The Lorraine friday show is just silly. What's the point of it being on if she only agreed to do four days? Why not call the friday show by presenters stand in name instead like Kirsty or Myleen?

Because they would need different Branding , Titles and Adverts every week besides it's the same show ive lost count of the amount of times Paul O Grady was absent from his C4 show yet it was still called The Paul O Grady Show , likewise Des + Mel for me theres nothing wrong with it and even though its targeted at women I still enjoy watching in my holidays .

Absolutely, no programme like Daybreak comes to air as a fully formed success. You can't really tell what works and what doesn't until you go on air with it and there's always things that were overlooked in pilots. There's always room for tinkering

Didn't TV-am take a while before it found it's feet?

Yeah of course, it went so badly that the company almost went bust a few months in!

The 'settling in' of TVam and GMTV was more a total relaunch rather than tinkering though. I think with Daybreak it'll be evolution rather than revolution

Perhaps it would've been better if they'd picked a title other than Lorraine for the programme if she is never going to present it on Fridays.

Paul O'Grady would be absent for a few weeks each year on holiday. Lorraine Kelly does that anyway, apparently now in addition to 20% of her weekly programmes.

Well she's not 'away' is she, she's never supposed to be in. You make it sound like she's slacking off or something.

Well what could they call it ? Daybreak without Loraine ,To me it does not matter most of the time she will be presenting it so it doesent rellay matter that much its still the same show just a guest presenting it .

So is there any of the behind the scenes staff remaining from GMTV?

My understanding is that a large proportion of the off-screen staff (production team and crew) working on Daybreak also worked on GMTV.

Yes but when a programme so greatly revolves around its presenting team there's not a lot of changes you can make without causing a lot of chaos/bad press etc

Considering there is no need for it to be live surely they could film a Friday edition earlier in the week on the day Loose Women don't record in the studio.
