Seems that as mentioned above, Alex Beresford is joining Daybreak as a weather presenter. He's obviously replaced Kirsty, however on his Twitter someone does say Alex will be the 'face of the weather' on Daybreak. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but Lucy has also changed her bio on Twitter. It used to say 'Weather presenter on ITV breakfast show Daybreak' or something along those lines... now it just says 'Weather presenter for ITV'.

I wonder if Alex is taking Lucy's place and Lucy is taking Becky Mantin's place on the national weather forecasts since she'll be on maternity soon?

Yes indeed, Lucy's last Daybreak will be next week.

To me it seems as if they are phasing out all presenters that are related to the original Daybreak launch. Will be interesting to see what happens with Dan and Kate. Kate has survived the demise of GMTV but will she survive the re-launch of Daybreak? IMO she deserves a place on the show.

You do know it's called Daybreak and not ITV Breakfast, yes? Or do we need to start calling Channel 5 'Northern and Shell' and Sky1 'British Sky Broadcasting 1'?

I do know its called Daybreak, the relaunch however, is for Daybreak and Lorraine, which is ITV Breakfast?

Or what about we create some form of channel name shortening? So then 'BBC One' would become 'B1' etc.....

They won't get rid of Kate & Dan. ITV will want a degree of continuity across the revamp which is where they went badly wrong last time, and they also need presenters to be 'second in command' so to speak. Besides, the Kate & Dan pairing was the main pairing towards the end of GMTV and carried over to Daybreak. I'm more interested to see if she becomes the entertainment editor again and whether they decide to bring back the sports desk.

Alex is a good signing for Daybreak weather and it makes a change to have a male forecaster on ITV Breakfast. Has there ever been one? Its a shame about Lucy but ITV Weather will be more suited to her as shes always had a bit of a nerve problem with live TV since moving to Daybreak, yet she was fine on Sky & Channel 5.

Alex seems like a good signing for Daybreak but with Lucy going to ITV National Weather you would have thought it might coincide with a relaunch! But what about when Becky Mantin returns? Is Alex temporary secondment to Daybreak?

Simon Biaggi was GMTV weather presenter.

Going back to TVAM we had Commander Philpott

Fred Talbot's done forecasts for Daybreak, and Ian MacCaskill did a short stint with GMTV.

Just me that thinks the Lorraine site is better than Daybreak's?

Anoilyrag, Cross Channel or Pete, are you going to post any further updates re the date of the relaunch? Also possible co-hosts with Lorraine? (ok so maybe pushing my luck with the second question).

Four months after Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley quit the Daybreak sofa, Monkey hears ITV is still finding it hard to make a decision about replacing them. Some big names have been approached but have turned the red-eyed gig down. And after the storm over the poaching of the BBC pair, ITV is, unsurprisingly, somewhat nervous about getting it wrong. Meanwhile, as Daybreak has already replaced its purple logo with the old GMTV orange, going the whole hog by turning itself back into GMTV seems logical. Or might some form of job-sharing alliance with BBC Breakfast, almost as troubled since moving north, be on the cards? Last week saw a bizarre glimpse of a possible future, with Prue Leith and Matthew Fort promoting BBC2's Great British Menu on Daybreak's sofa, not Breakfast's. ITV quizzing BBC stars who won't travel to Salford – looks like a win-win.

I wonder how much truth is there to this? Monkey is usually reliable.

My reliable source suggests John McCririck will be on the sofa with Lorraine from June, with Phil Bodmer of Look North taking over Lorraine's slot with his new show called 'Phil'.
