Seems that as mentioned above, Alex Beresford is joining Daybreak as a weather presenter. He's obviously replaced Kirsty, however on his Twitter someone does say Alex will be the 'face of the weather' on Daybreak. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but Lucy has also changed her bio on Twitter. It used to say 'Weather presenter on ITV breakfast show Daybreak' or something along those lines... now it just says 'Weather presenter for ITV'.

I wonder if Alex is taking Lucy's place and Lucy is taking Becky Mantin's place on the national weather forecasts since she'll be on maternity soon?

The mad thing is ITV is supposed to be afranchise and offer regional programming, and now its being alloed not to, so now they are setting up channel 6 to offer regional news and programmes. why not just make itv do what its supposed to

Cross Channel or Anoilyrag, is there any indication as to when/or if the relaunch will take place?

Regional programming was an offshoot of the franchise system rather than the sole desire. You have to remember that in the days before BSkyB and all the other channels, ATV, Yorkshire, Granada et al were in competition with *each other* as well as the BBC. The aim was to set up several companies not only to offer regional programming but to create competition to get the best of the best shows broadcast nationwide.

Thankfully now with a centralised ITV we only get top quality programming...

oh.

He only asked anoilyrag and Cross Channel because they are both known to be connected with ITV Breakfast...

You do know it's called Daybreak and not ITV Breakfast, yes? Or do we need to start calling Channel 5 'Northern and Shell' and Sky1 'British Sky Broadcasting 1'?
