I believe it is what the studio loop is. Before it was the bumper with the Daybreak logo still and it would fade to the next bumper and so on. Now it is the orangey/yellow skyline thing with the magnification line effects. The music is Track 13 I believe, the light sting into the close bed then back to the light sting and so on...

Seems like a backwards step, rather than a step in the right direction.

The Newshour shouldn't have been axed in the first place during the GMTV era, although I agree that bringing back Dickie is a bad move.

What an awful idea to bring back Richard, IMO.

He was exactly the sort of cheesiness we had come to expect with GMTV.

Better to fail with new ideas then to continue the long decline of traditional formats. Exactly the sort of trap that The Big Breakfast got into.

Newshour should have never been axed, as a programme or as a section. Does ITV Breakfast get shown on STV HD and UTV HD now?

What else would they show?

Ironically that's the nicest bit of presentation I've seen from the current STV look.

Theres no point in pretending anymore, they should just fully revert back to GMTV. The brief of Daybreak was so it wasn't as cheesy (and was reportedly written in an 'idiots guide' given to staff in September 2010) and now it will just become GMTV-lite. Bringing back GMTV will give them a lot of PR in a way that a Daybreak revamp won't. Helen Fospero will almost certainly be back reading the news and presenting 6-7am, so of the main presenters (assuming Kate & Dan will continue to present), 4 of 5 will be former GMTV presenters. If Richard Arnold does return then I've got visions of Keith Chegwin running to peoples houses with a giant cheque at 7.45am. If it works for them, fine, but they should try and be a bit more innovative than recycling what worked 10 years ago because thats only a short term fix.

They should completely do away with the fluffy cosy sofa format and try something a bit more like The Wright Stuff. Since the Salford move, BBC Breakfast are edging Daybreak out in every possible way from unnoticeable things such as the set e.g. background images, to content such as studio performances from music acts. Its becoming a modern version of early-noughties GMTV so its going to be even harder for them to compete.

Bringing Richard Arnold back, does that not give us a hint to other staff changes? Kate becoming a presenter and Steve or Richard being made Entertainment Editor? Is this the point where we all say our ideal presenter line-up....
