anyone else getting ready for the millions of studio mocks over the coming months?
I have the disinfectant ready......

I think ITV should aim for the cynics market and rename the show Trollop - so we could have a voiceover saying "You're watching Trollop Lorraine Kelly... I mean with Lorraine Kelly".
Isn't that a little uncalled for?
The whole point of Daybreak was the London skyline. If they're dropping that, moving to the same studio as Lorraine and bringing back the newshour, is there much point in keeping such a negative brand as 'Daybreak'? Although it did have its troubles, if that's the route they're going down, then they should just rename it back to GMTV because it will be that in all but name.

According to RadioTimes, Daybreak are broadcasting their usual hours on Good Friday (6 May) and Easter Monday (9 May) - 6am-8.30am. I thought they would have shown CITV for the first hour, like they did last year IIRC.
Dan Lobb and Helen Fospero are presenting on the Friday, with Jackie Brambles sitting in for Lorraine all week. I think Jackie should get a shot at Daybreak.

According to her Twitter page Helen will be presenting from Wednesday and is doing Lorraine the week after. I completely agree about Jackie Brambles. She'd be far better as the Friday/relief host than Kate Garraway who has had her time at the helm of GMTV and Daybreak. This relaunch would mark a good time for her to move on, even if its just to Lorraine's current slot when Lorraine isn't available.

Thanks for that. It's only March, but this is the comment of the year already.

What are you talking about?
The whole point of Daybreak, the hosting duo.
The set was nice, but it's not the whole point of the programme.
The whole point of Daybreak was the London skyline. .

You're just being pedantic and the reasons are far more indepth than that one line. But if, as you say, the whole point was the hosting duo, then all the more reason to ditch the name.
The reason I referenced the skyline as being a main purpose of the show was on the name, so we can see err... day break. It was the first reference they made on the show and in the first few shows constantly referred to the view. It was also in a lot of pre-launch PR. But that idea soon fell through as they moved into autumn.

Goodness Gracious Me! What have we here...............?
The post immediately above is utter piffle, and editing/deleting posts after a member has quoted from them is not very adult either.
Oh, hang on. Forgot I was in the Daybreak thread.
It's not like me to rant, but this is utter sh!te.

I hope you're this nice to all newbies, you're so welcoming. Before criticising other people, you should perhaps realise that your attitude isn't very adult either.
Apologies for inconveniently changing my post and ruining your point because of very bad wording. I've only just seen your post. Just let me justify that comment, its all about relativity. Daybreak is currently aimed at the absolute gutter market and although they are predominantly going to continue in that way, their host selection could help the perception from the viewer. The 'more upmarket' comment was simply referring to this direction, and the male comment stems from her being very attractive with some degree of authority. Unless you've been living under a rock, that has done the world of good for Susanna Reid's profile in recent months following her promotion. Lets not forget this is the company that thought Adrian & Christine could launch an upmarket show. (I edited this bit in at 7.43pm fyi).
I wouldn't expect them to suddenly get ABC1 viewers from the appointment of Jackie Brambles, the ex-GMTV showbiz reporter and Loose Women anchor. I'm just suggesting that she could tap into different audiences in the way that very few presenters can. I don't even know why I'm putting so much effort into defending my points or arguing about Daybreak, I don't even watch it.
You might want to learn to quote people properly by the way.

Yes, I do have to say I am disinterested in Daybreak and its presenters.

The set was nice, but it's not the whole point of the programme.
I think it would be fairer to say that the whole point of the set was the London skyline. It didn't necessarily add anything: in fact the blinds/no blinds fiasco and problems with dark mornings just gave the media another stick with which to beat the producers.
I think the point of the programme wasn't necessarily the presenting team either. ITVplc wanted to put their stamp on the franchise after they'd bought it. The best way was to change the name and revamp it, albeit badly.
Is there much point in ditching the Daybreak brand now? Both TV-am and GMTV had to undergo quite drastic revamps during their first year: ITVplc may have dragged their feet a little about doing it, but perhaps they are just doing the same as previous C3 breakfast franchises.
