0700 Daybreak
ITV Weather: 0701-0703, 0728-0730, 0758-0800
ITV News Headlines: 0703-0706, 0733-0736, 0800-0803
ITV Regional Headlines: 0736-0739
With a more of a slant towards news features rather than light/lifestyle features

0830 Good Morning (with Lorraine)
ITV Weather: 0858-0900
ITV News Headlines: 0900-0903
ITV Regional Headlines 0903-0906
Wouldn't really change the format of the show as it seems to work well at this moment.

Has this story been picked up elsewhere, that's usually a sign of whether it is true or not?

I would put the news later, ITV News at 5 with Charlene White, a twenty minute round up of the headlines, with some 40-minute show between 5:20-6:00. Followed by a Breakfast style ITV News show from 6:00am-7:30am which would have one main presenter- Mark Austin, really promote the show as a main programme. With Charlene White acting as co-host, reading headlines and sports news.
Then 'Good Morning' with Lorraine Kelly (Mon-Thu) & Nadia Swalah (Fri/ Deputy). Which would be just like Lorraine's Show- Cookery, Showbiz, Entertainment and include a news review. With Mark staying on to present News Updates every half an hour (7:30,8:00, 8:30). That would start at 7:30 ending at 9:00am, then introduce some other 25-minute show ending the 'Breakfast Schedule' with a news update with Mark at 9:25.

0700 Daybreak

There is no way I could see that happenning. Think of all the extra resources (i.e. staff) that would be needed for a 15 minute regional bulletin as opposed to the current arrangements, which are essentially the minimum possible

I think that all this rumouring about schedule changes and that is poitnless. The way for Daybreak to solve it's issues is for it to sort it's format out and lose all the drivel, competitions and stuff. It needs to be a morning show updating the latest news, travel, weather, with a few lighter stories inbetween....

You can't be serious. They'd never move Mark Austin to the mornings. Firstly he's successful on News at Ten, why'd they move him to a slot which will never pull in that many viewers and will always be second fiddle to the BBC (I know News at Ten is too, but it's not the same...). Secondly did you see him on the royal wedding coverage? He's totally not suited to anything too light hearted (which always features in the morning shows).

Would there be any more resources needed? I mean, 15 minutes may be a stretch, but all they need is a slightly longer weather forecast and more reports (which would be recycled from the night before anyway, just like any footage is at the moment). Other than that it would be the same, no?

Well, today you're getting Sherrie Hewson on Daybreak. Lovely.

They'd surely need more staff to be able to react to any overnight news. With the current setup there is barely any time to cover anything that develops overnight. But with a longer bulletin if news broke overnight I'd have thought viewers would expect a duty correspondent for example

And if the bulletin had too many recycled bits from the previous evening I'm sure viewers would notice

Well I think it might be good for Mark to have a new challenge! Alastair Stewart is better than Mark anyhows so he would take on the 6:30 & Ten. Alongside Julie with Mary doing the 1:30. I think it could work.

I agree it wouldn't take a lot of resources to do it! Yoa Chin is the only onscreen reporter on the 5:30am national news and if there's anymore stories the presenter covers the story. So the presenter can provide details on overnight breaking stories, which I think I've have already seen happen on TTB!

BBC Breakfast were discussing Coronation Street during the lighter part of the show this morning. Is it any wonder Daybreak is struggling, Breakfast have completely squeezed them out . In GMTV's hayday you would never have had Breakfast talking soaps.

Wasn't the constant talk about hay the main reason GMTV was scrapped?

Yes. I think they will need a replacement soon though, Lucy is entitled to holidays and time off for illness and family emergencies. Maybe they will go with Fred again.
