An alleged insider is reporting that the details for Daybreak's major relaunch shall be released on Monday, March 5th 2012. The insider goes on to describe the new look programme shall take inspiration for CBS This Morning, Morning Joe and Ten's newly launched Breakfast. A step in the right direction if you ask me.

Nah it's just TV World, a previous user of this site....until he was banned. He has nothing to do with ITV or any other broadcaster. See his work here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPNTSD29Nfg

See I'm not sure I agree - ITV and CBS are in different positions.

CBS has spent at least the last fifteen years failing to reach large ratings in its morning shows. ABC and NBC have both been successful in capturing the market, and there isn't room for CBS to do another Today/GMA format show when its competition does them so well. Arguably the biggest problem for The Early Show was that its offering was too similar to ABC and NBC, but inferior in quality and certainly not enough to change viewing habbits.

ITV is in a different boat. Sure, it's spent a hell of a long time in second place, but when ITV was in front its programming wasn't worlds away from BBC Breakfast. The difference is, coupled with bad timing (for ITV), the BBC has done that type of show much better for several years.

The biggest problem for me with Daybreak was it was trying to be like The One Show, and I don't mean in format. The One Show was created something genuinely different. In many ways they got lucky. ITV tried the same tactic, but didn't launch anything nearly unique enough. ITV needs, I believe, to go back to the Breakfast/GMTV formula - just find a way to make it better than Breakfast.

The grahics used to direct viewers for twitter facebook and text, seems to be the right way forward for new graphics, not the same but bright like Ten's Breakfast which I like apart from the Markets graphic.

Daybreak London's regional opt ran over by a tiny bit! Also their clock seems to be of a very low quality! Also what is the flash the plays between news stories when the switch between each story?

It's the same with Daybreak Central Scotland bulletins, the clock used to also display seconds and since that's gone the clock has gotten awfully low rent. Also the flashes happen for us as well.

Is it just me or has other folk noticed that Lucy doesn't seem very interested doing the news now? She isn't even looking at the camera when she says 'Good morning'....Sooner she goes stateside the better.

If you knew the software (read that, software - not hardware) they use to air those bulletins you'd understand why they're so bad! Though there are better ways of doing the clock!

An interesting idea, that I'm sure a few have mentioned on here.
The problem is that Lorraine's show attracts the viewers because of Lorraine & the format. Taking Lorraine & plonking her into the current Daybreak format wouldn't work. If they extended Lorraine by a further 90 minutes, what would the programme be filled with? More lifestyle features, a different look at the news maybe.
The Lorraine set & branding imo works a lot better than Daybreak's too.

If there is any truth about this, it'll be interesting how it pans out.
