Err except it wasn't plastered over the top, it was just replaced with the new logo. I think the logo comes up not as part of the titles but as part of the graphics system, as in the first few weeks it used to stay on screen for a few seconds more when they had that long camera shot.

That was created by having the titles played out then a cut to a studio shot with the 'out of break' graphic loaded ready to be played as soon as the cut happens. Quite neat to watch and its a shame they don't do it anymore.

It was very well done and I'd also prefer them to revert to a lot of the original graphics, but I think you have to think from the casual viewer's perspective - they don't really want to see the studio lighting at the top of the set as it doesn't feel homely or comforting, and some people complained it was a bit clunky. But I liked it.

The other, easier option, is to just have your titles play out with a key channel to reveal the studio at the end.

Why? Don't you have a load of pro lighting kit sat in your lounge?

To anyone that saw the Central Scotland News this morning....

Was that STV announcer Cameron McKenna doing the news this morning? Didn't actually see who it was as I was in the kitchen but it definitely sounded like him...

Fiona Phillips has now joined Twitter @realmissfiona - and has said in one of her tweets re Penny Smith, "get her back reading the news on Daybreak". I have to say that I very much agree with Fiona!

Think bringing penny back would be a step in the wrong direction, we need a new team not just hiring all of gmtvs old staff.

Bringing back Andrew Castle or Ben Shephard would be a mistake, but Penny Smith would be a triumph.

Would they even want to go back as Ben's busy on Sky Sports and Penny's writing her books and Andrews erm he's erm advertising injury lawyers.

I doubt they would want to go back after they were all booted off the sofa. But then again if the money was right, who knows?

I have recently noticed that at 30 mins past the hour, Daybreak do an almost TOTH sequence ie. main news recap, still to come, then hand over to the news.
I think this part of the programme deserves a quick sting just to mark the half past the hour - but not using the full theme tune. So using cuts from the Daybreak package, I've created this quick sting:

My Alternative Daybreak theme.

Not to keen on that to be honest. Sounds disjointed.
