Sopel and Maitlis? Or are they too heavy?

An unusual pair for a breakfast show but the chemistry and journalistic background is certainly there. Can't ever see it happening as they aren't really 'light entertainment' sort of people but I think it'd be quite good!

Saying that, they've both done Breakfast before, just not together.

Helen should be employed as the main female anchor, she did extremely well with interviewing Neville Lawrence. The fact that Dan wasn't involved in the interview shows that the bosses don't feel as if he could handle such a task.

I absolutely agree I thought Helen was fantastic this morning (although everybody's entitled to their own opinions). I thought she handled the interview with Neville Lawrence extremely well with detailed, emotive and well thought out questions. As you say Dan's absence from interview illustrates that he is not experienced enough to handle such an interview. However, it is absolutely clear that Dan presents so much better with Helen in comparison to Kate.

Even though Helen isn't an established name she does have a strong journalistic background and presenting experience in reference to BBC / Sky / Five news / GMTV / Daybreak & Lorraine. She has proven she can handle the serious news items as well a lighter feautures. She is also a mother than can empathise with the core target audience and she doesn't have the baggage like Kate Garraway.

Also, has anyone else noticed that we haven't seen the video wall / stage or Sports Desk since before christmas. The weather has been presented outside probably for quicker updates and the sport is now presented from the main sofa. However, could they be preparing for a studio revamp on that side of the studio. I know this is pure speculation on my part. Cool

As with regards to Helen she did say "see you soon" after Dan said "see you tomorrow", so we could be seeing more of her, hopefully!

And you may be right about the set changes.

Whatever happens are look forward to seeing what happens.

I do advise everyone to take a look at the below link; could be a good model for Daybreak.

Helen Fospero is such a lovely lady presenting. Warm and welcoming.

What's this Downsize in Dubai thing? Do the producers really think people are searching for this kind of entertainment first thing in the morning? This seems to be the Daybreak's very own Biggest Loser...

Seems like a variation of an old GMTV feature ... "Inch Loss Island" anyone? At least it isn't Mr bloody Motivator!

I've always loved their studio.

I watched Daybreak the other day and Gavin was doing the sport from the main sofa, anyone know why that it is? Also have they stopped doing In the Mix after the news at 6AM? When I watched it they went straight into a report with Dr Hillary instead of doing In the Mix.

If you've not been following the thread since before Christmas, these changes were made along with the visual revamp.

Yes, I have been following this thread since before Christmas. Must have missed that post, it's been a while since I've watched Daybreak so all these changes were new to me.

Lucy Watson is off to New York next week according to her Twitter, do we know who is going to be doing the news after this week yet?

Glad they've ditched In The Mix or whatever it's called from just after 6am. I tend to only catch between 6 and 6.20 and, at that time in the morning, I'm not really interested in a discussion format like that, I'd rather catch a few topical reports and feel a bit more up-to-date.

Still, the show is nowhere near where it needs to be. It needs to be livelier, but not in a silly way like they've tended to do at times. Can't help but wonder if they're running it down a bit now to make a relaunch seem more radical?
