It's Dan Lobb's 40th today and Helen Fospero has tweeted him a birthday message and says, "keep me a space on the Daybreak sofa on Monday, although I can't promise I'll have cake with me".

Could we be seeing Helen return as the news reader? This would be a fantastic move by Daybreak IMO.

No, she's just co-presenting for one day unfortunately.

I agree it's unfortunate that she will be only co-presenting the programme for one day. I really hope we see a lot more of Helen presenting Daybreak in the future. In terms of whether the programme should have a separate newsreader I think there are advantages and disadvantages. I do not think it is necessarily a bad thing to have a separate newsreader. However, I think moving forward it should be the main anchors that introduce the main headines at TOTH.

In the mirror, there is an interesting article about Tasmin leaving the show yesterday. It say's that her contract was up for renewal and according to a ;source' she had to go because 'she was part of the old show which stuggled'. You always's have to take these articles with a pinch of salt but it appears she was pushed out from the programme. The key question is that will anymore presenters get the axe before the big relaunch in the spring.

Also, the article say's that Lucy Watson will cover the news for next week as bosses search for a replacement.

Just a thought if they are going to replace Tasmin, do you think they might consider bringing in Natasha Kaplinsky? Or even as main presenter at the end of the day there's not really a job for her with ITN when Ninas back.
Or what about Charlene White or Faye Barker? From 5:30am?

I don't think Kaplinsky would be happy with such a small role, or waking up at such an early hour with children to look after.

Charlene White and Faye Barker would have to travel over from Greys Inn Rd, and need to do the Daybreak London bulletins. Unless they were done from the Daybreak studio, I can't see that happening.

Lucy Watson is Tasmin's replacement

Awful decision, she always seems nervous whilst reading the news and looks totally uncomfortable.

she must only be doing it temporarily as we already know she's to be the new New York Correspondent. I don't think there will be a newsreader once David Kermode has fully revamped the programme in April. But Lucy is about 1000 times better than the dreadfully cold Tasmin

She's filling in, unless you suddenly have a source which tells you Lucy is to take over..

Oh sorry wasn't aware of that, a poster on DS said that she was her permanent replacement so I assumed it was true. Glad it's only temporary.

Big mistake.

Daybreak website could do with including more news or link with ITV News. Having a quick glance of the Daybreak page you'd mistake the programme for This Morning, but lighter.

Interesting note, Andrew Castle posted on Jackie Kablers page 'Hey Jackie, you are the new @WhichPennySmith !' to which Jackie replied 'Hello gorgeous! Yes, I might be!!'.

Not sure if you guys will remember Jackie who used to report on GMTV a few years back and also presents on ITV News (in the morning).

Not sure if that is what they were referring to but who knows Smile

Jackie also works on Midlands Today as well, so I gather she's freelance.
