On the daybreak website I only watch one Christmas clip of the presenters and Cordelia was in the news presenter seat and I don't remember Tasmin being on the clip all. So will Cordelia now take the seat? Lucy's off to US.
Gregg Easteal seems to be reporting a lot now, so maybe that pushes Cordelia in. Has Sue Jameson been on this week?

EDIT: website has lost its purple! I think it's got a yellow background or edges but it just flashes on my iPad.

Absolutely no mention of Tasmin leaving on today's programme. Kate seemed to be very frosty with her, no interaction at all between Kate & Dan and Tasmin. Felt a bit tense to me.

Do they fear they are going in the same direction as Tasmin??

What a shame. I was going to come on here and ask if anyone had a video of them saying goodbye to Tasmin but it appears she didn't even get a mention? That's unbelievable.

These 2 are obnoxious. Confused Rolling Eyes Get rid of them already.

Are we really mourning the loss of Tasmin? Let's be honest, she was atrocious on her first day, like an intern stumbling over every second word. I tuned in this week to catch the (hideous) new orange logo, and she was equally sh|t, if not worse than she used to be.

Is there any reason the main presenter, e.g. Garroway, can't read the news headlines?

None at all - as Breakfast demonstrated a few years ago when they axed the separate newsreader role. Whilst it was sad to see Moira leave, the role itself was pretty superfluous.

For me, I don't like Dan Lobb as host at the moment. It's that same feeling when GMTV started using Ben Shepherd although Ben was less...I don't know what word I'm looking for but it's not good.

The newsreader worked well on GMTV as Penny did the Newshour, then news updates during Today. Although with Daybreak as said above Tasmin's role is not needed.

Daybreak is a bit more light-hearted (and more showbiz focussed, for the moment anyway) and its hosts are not actual newsreaders unlike BBC Breakfast. Having a separate newsreader on a separate desk creates a more serious environment for delivering the news - it also means that there can be a news update during Lorraine at 9 o'clock, allowing there to be some sense of relationship between the two shows (bar from the coming up segments during Daybreak and the logos).

On BBC Breakfast, having a separate newsreader didn't make any sense, purely because the Breakfast programme and brand is closely affiliated with the BBC News brand. Heck, the BBC News logo is featured in the opening titles and, as I said before, only BBC newsreaders actually host the show.

They still have a brief headline summary at the start anyway, and it's not like this is the BBC and it's "wasting license payer's money". I'm not sure why there is a vocal opposition here against a separate newsreader.

Main presenters probably use the time off during news updates to get their facts and prepare for their Mark Wright, Jordan, who was evicted from which reality show coverage. Cool

I wonder who they've got lined up as a replacement (assuming they're keeping the news-desk)...

If David Kermode's time at Breakfast tells us anything, it's that Tasmin's post was eliminated.
