Surprised that Kirsty Gallagher is back covering for Lorraine tomorrow - I thought she was the worst cover presenter over the Summer. I'd like to see Fiona doing Fridays.

It's a shame Ruth isn't around on Fridays or she'd be perfect. With timings fairly tight between the shows (I seem to recall they go through lines and do some rehearsals for This Morning?) this wouldn't work, but I'd have thought Ruth and Holly covering Lorraine in addition to This Morning would be one of the best options going. Didn't ITV's head of Daytime want presenters to be used across programmes, anyway?

Otherwise Andrea Mclean (no stranger to morning programmes) or Kate Thornton (tipped for GMTV's replacement originally) could be used?

Do you think Fiona Phillips would ever reconsider coming back to do some one-off's again for Lorraine? Not everyone's cup of tea.

Andrea would be the best choice IMO. Seems a bit daft that they can't stick to having one or two fill in presenters every Friday, for continuity purposes, instead of the planned huge variety of guest hosts each week.

Is it confirmed that there will be no loraine every friday with a guest presenter presenting?

if it is I don't think fiona phillips would do it I would go for Penny Smith she would suit that role for me house mentioned Ruth I agree with house would be a good choice as would Holly but I disagree with Andrea i just don't think she would be suited to that role as another choice surely Kate could run over to present it .

Bit silly to have a show called Lorraine if she's not going to be on it on a friday!

I;ve noticed the tracks before, but never clicked. Interesting. They should use them in every programme, going from a dark blue at 6, to a light yellow or something as the morning goes on to 8:30?

Also, just seen the 4 Poofs and a Piano segment on the YouTube channel. I think they're pretty good. And another question - is Adrian Chiles gay? He seems to be getting closer to Dan every day Razz

I thought there had to a purpose for them panels. Seems like a very good idea. Like they way that both the panels and table can actually change colourfor once! I actually prefer the blue colouring.

They should have used them this week i.e before say 6:30 when it's near enough pitch black. Will be intresting to see in a couple of months when they start using them.

Whilst I was a little sceptical of the 4 Poofs and a Piano segment, I just checked it out and thought it was actually very good. You never know, if they end up doing it long enough, it could be as widely recongnised as their part on Johnaton Ross.

While those fancy glass panels are quite impressive, for a breakfast show they look very cold and harsh to me. A cosier and less costly solution would have been to have stylish vertical blinds which can be automatically drawn back when it gets light.

Very interesting, thanks for that. Those panels suddenly make a lot of sense.

I don't see what they were expecting, really. With the same production team from the same building, I could never see this as being a revolution in breakfast television, but rather evolution that will hopefully continue to evolve. I think they would have been criticised for doing anything too radical if they'd completely changed the GMTV format, while being criticised if they did too little. Perhaps they didn't find get the balance quite right, but this was by far a "flop" in my opinion (despite not being a huge fan of Daybreak or GMTV, I should add).

I agree with house

Please don't.

But they did use them, they are always on are they not? More noticeable when it's dark, they could do with some more of them as the view at 6am is a bit dull, they could do with one behind the newsreader too when it's dark. On the designer's website it says 'unused' which confuses me? Maybe there is more panels to be used other than the four they have now.

Not really she lives in Scotland, I imagine she was in London for the whole of the previous week, for rehersals etc. As it is she has already made sacrafices with her new contract, previously working 2 days a week to now working 4.
