Lucy Watson is presenting the news this week and she seems very stiff and nervous this morning. She hasn't done the news or presented on the sofa for ages now so it doesn't come as much of a surprise.

Lucy Watson comes across so differently reading the news to when she's been on the sofa, and I don't understand why.

I agree she comes across so much better when she present's from the sofa in comparison to reading the news. However, she announced on twitter that she will be the programme's New York Correspondent from the New Year. That effectively rules out any possibility of her getting the female anchor role which the frontrunners are Natasha Kaplinsky and Helen Fospero.

On the ratings front, last week the show averaged 700,000 viewers compared to Breakfast's 1.7 million down 100,000 viewers compared to the same week last year which is a major concern especially for temporary hosts Kate and Dan. This add's real pressure to the executives who need to appoint the right anchors and improvement the content of the show that gradually ratings will rise.

Also, I noticed that after 7am they have axed 'In the Mix' which they shouldn't really do because that is one of the stronger elements within the format of the show.

The more I watch Daybreak since A&C left the more and more it feels like GMTV especially with Kate Garraway being on almost everyday. I detested GMTV in it's latter years, slag A&C off as much as you like but they made it all feel different. I really hope they find some new hosts and not keeping Dan and Kate on permanently.

Dan and Kate will take the ratings down further in the next few months, the new hosts will be introduced, get the ratings back up to Adrian and Christine levels and be declared the saviours of Daybreak!

Considering the speed at which they got rid of Adrian and Christine they're in no hurry to replace them.

Could Anoilyrag provide any insider information? It would end some of the speculation - is there going to be a relaunch in January? Have the new presenters been confirmed (behind the scenes), any other changes to the show?

Yes, she is much better presenting on the sofa. Never knew she was going to be the New York correspondent, I guess that means that Michelle woman who previously did all NY coverage is leaving? I wonder who will take Lucy's old role, she's normally shooting on location around the UK and they'll need a new relief news presenter too. Wouldn't be surprised if they got Cordelia to do it although she wouldn't be my first choice.

The speculation could be ended by people not speculating.

With all the media stories about the dropping of Adrian and Christine, I imagine staff realise its more than their job's worth to start gossiping about new presenters - especially when contracts may not yet have been signed.

Bad time to suggest Samira Ahmed (ex channel 4 news) might get the job as she's been on Lorraine quite a lot recently.

Either that or Tasmin gets promoted to save money, And an itv/itn make gets brought in

No January relaunch - BIG cosmetic change though!

No new presenters confirmed!

Format tweaks from January.

Dan and Kate will continue for the forseable future. No official moves on new presenters. ITN is not taking over news. Graphics will be considerably less purple from January. Major changes will come in March. Lots of speculation about presenter combinations on this forum. Use the following criteria: Are they an established terrestrial name? Are they journalistic? Do they have experience of 2 1/2 hours of live television? Do they possess the life skills and experiences to empathise with parents and families?

Given what anoilyrag has said, I think Andrea Catherwood could be in the running. She's worked for ITV News and Channel 5, now for Bloomberg. She's been on This Morning doing the paper review, and recently was on Daybreak during 'In The Mix'. I genuinely think she has most of that criteria which was said above.

She's known as a journalist, has a personality, she's a mother, the list goes on. She's a good mix of Sian Williams and Kate Garraway IMO.

Also, if the graphics will be 'less purple' from Jan, then what colour will they be? There doesn't seem to be one colour which defines the brand at the moment. Maybe blue?

they will go back to red and orange as those colours represent a cosy safe breakfast. At least he purple was different, they will be bring in a yellow sun on a blue squre as the logo with a clock under it Laughing
