Ridiculous decision to axe them. They aren't the cause of the low ratings, and the ratings won't grow now because they've left. I think Dan Lobb has more of a negative effect on the show than them - he just isn't serious enough. But hey, if that's the direction they want to go in, then so be it.

As much as we may not see him as serious enough, he seems to be popular with the viewers. I'm sure when Ben Shepherd took on the main job on GMTV, many would have said that he wasn't serious enough at that time.
all of the pictures of them on the website together have gone. also their presenter pages have gone and the only presenters that are there now are dan and kate. I cant stand the both of them
Yes, they have;
I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't circled the place where the image was once positioned.
Don't need to circle just visit the prizes page and they are still there!
I'm just new to this site but have been an avid visitor for a while.
Just a thought ... last week when Andrea McLean was on the show, was it coincidence that they had her at the end of the show sit next to Dan and have Lisa (also from loose Women) sit on the other side of Dan AND then had the camera on Dan and Andrea?
I do tend to look into these things in too much detail and it may mean nothing but I was thinking that maybe Andrea is in for a shout to be Christine's replacement.
Thanks
Ps. Hopefully this attaches, not the best of captures but it was the best I could do.
Actually now that you have brought up Loose Woman and Lisa (Maxwell?), she would be quite good. She has her seriousness that she uses on dramas etc then the 'comedy' part that she uses on Loose Women, and she will be in the same building for LW anyway! And, she can do Lorraine if needed! Sorry I'm dreaming now!
Neither Lisa Maxwell or Andrea McLean would make for good presenters on this show, the chances of it happening too are extremely slim. I'd much rather Helen Fospero to them two but I think Kate will get given the main female anchor role. I'm guessing then they would need a new entertainment reporter to replace Kate, Anna Williamson or Sam Mann I'd assume seeing as they've been used the most.

I think Andrea McLean would be very good, in fact.
To suggest Lisa Maxwell as Christine's replacement is ridiculous - it will never happen, and never should happen! Andrea is a trained journalist and did present GMTV with both Eamonnn and Ben however. Helen Fospero would be great IMO and even Kate. I don't think that Dan can be considered as the male anchor full-time, he is not serious and qualified enough. I think that if Daybreak want to take the lead over BBC Breakfast they need two anchors who can handle the serious news as well as the lighter stuff. I look forward to them announcing the new anchors.
I agree with James, they have to appoint anchors that can handle the serious news items but also the lighter items as well. However, they must tackle the content and format of the programme as a key priority if they want to improve ratings.
In terms of ratings for last week, Daybreak seems to be down compared to last year which attacted an average audience around 923,000 due to the bad weather reaching a million viewers on December 2nd 2010.
Here were the ratings for last week with the AI figures.
28 Nov 831,000 AI 72
29 Nov 784,000 AI 65
30 Nov 672,000 AI 68
1 Dec 773,000 AI 68
2 Dec 785.000 AI 67
5 Dec 818,000
Figures courtesy of the DS forum.
Yesterday's episode only attracted 818,000 viewers compared to Breakfasts 1.6 million and Lorraine's 1.1 million. Also Audience Appreciation figures appear to hoover around the late 60s and early 70s which is still low.
There is still much more work to be done on the programme before ratings can improve.
You could get the two highest profile news anchors in the country and I doubt things would change. I echo other forum members thoughts when I say it is the content that is letting the show down.
I would get rid of Tasmin for a start, having a news presenter totally de fragments the programme as it means that news is a separate item along with sport and entertainment. The news should be read by the main presenters of you want a news based show.
