I really despise the thought of seeing either Eamonn Holmes or Natasha Kaplinsky on Daybreak. Eamonn isn't much cheerier than Adrian and left GMTV partly due to it's celebrity/light entertainment focus, and Kaplinsky lacks the warmth that is needed for breakfast TV, as she did on BBC Breakfast.
Yet both were popular on both their respective TV roles. Eamonn was on GMTV from the first day for 12 years. Natasha presented Breakfast for three years and was also well known.
Even though you'd think they would be the wrong choice, they were popular on breakfast television. The question is, does it really matter who hosts it when it comes to the content?
I think content is the main issue, yes. I quite liked Daybreak from the start but now the ridiculous competitions and campaigns have returned, combined with very frequent advert breaks, means I'm back watching BBC Breakfast.
I think all three aspects (presenters, content, studio) need an improvement. The content needs to look at BBC Breakfast's content and timings and build upon that. Get in more guests that aren't regularly seen on BBC Breakfast especially as they are now moving to Salford.
The studio looks usually looks quite cluttered and small, despite being fairly large - the red sofa needs to be replaced with something more modern I think, and one that shows off the wonderful view of London they have far better.
Both Adrian and Christine are pretty stale presenters on the show - they do the job decently but aren't particularly easy to warm to. I think the best set of current presenters are Dan Lobb and Kate Garraway, both of which are very lively and engaging, and adjust to the news and the light stuff.
I think Louise Minchin would be a good signing for main female presenter. Struggling for names for male presenters, as I said I quite like Dan Lobb!
