Does anyone really think Eamonn would go back to ITV breakfast thoigh? I know it was GMTV before but he was very very keen to distance himself from any rumours of him going to Daybreak when it began.
I have to say that Eamonn and Natasha could very well tempt me back to the ITV breakfast table. Eamonn presided over a successful era for GMTV and Natasha was much more suited to breakfast TV than she is serious news. I don't recall disliking Natasha too much when she presented BBC Breakfast; it was when she moved to the Six O'Clock News that I couldn't take her seriously. Both Eammon and Natasha are credible journalists in their own right and with Breakfast's ridiculous move to Salford and the loss of Sian Williams, they might just be enough to tempt me back over. I'm sure the same could be said for a lot of people who aren't staunch BBC fans. A major turn-off for me as far as Daybreak is concerned has been Adrian and Christine. I just couldn't take them seriously.

Brits love nothing better than to build people up, placing them on a pedestal, only to watch them come crashing down.
Adrian & Christine were doomed to failure in any joint venture: they'd been over-hyped and actually weren't suited to breakfast TV. The format didn't help, but I'm actually surprised they lasted so long.
In one respect, ITV probably hope they will be seen as scapegoats, and the 'ritual slaughter' required to allow some former-GMTV viewers back into the fold if they feel that their criticism over the demise of their beloved station has been vindicated.
That's probably worth ITV stumping up the cost of paying off the 'Dream Team' of Adrian & Christine in itself.
I know some people say it shouldn't be news focused but that's clearly what the majority of the morning tv viewer ship wants hence BBC Breakfast ratings being nearly double that of Daybreak.
But ITV's soft approach trounced BBC Breakfast for the best part of 2 decades. TV-Am tanked at birth, as did GMTV, but both went on to eclipse BBC Breakfast eventualy. If Daybreak finds it's feet with with a similar modern-day mix of news and tat those viewers will abandon Breakfast as quickly as they arrived.
I think the name Daybreak will survive, with a more News orientated feel. ITV seem to be serious about improving their whole News package at present, a good thing if it wants to continue to be taken seriously.
ITV have got to sort out Daybreak now because I feel that when BBC Breakfast moves 'oop North' it's going to collapse upon itself - ITV could then take the initiative.
Natasha and Eamonn would probably be the best team to do this. Or perhaps Dermot Murnaghan and Natasha?

I don't think tried and tested partnerships work on different shows as it is then expected to be something it's not and the show won't do as well.
On another note Robert Hall (BBC) and Lorna Dunkley (sky) would be a good partnership I think. Both highly respected journalists.
Or Paxman could make a return to Mornings with everyone's favourite Kay Burley - that would be a good watch.

As if. Get real with suggesting Paxman, or even Robert Hall.
Both Adrian & Christine on today, Adrians less grumpy than yesterday and Christine looks jollier that normal.. They're both being very professional about it all.

Who says that Breakfast is going to collapse upon itself?
Yes it may be moving to a different city but all it really is doing is changing .studio and a couple of new presenters - new off camera staff (i.e. cameramen etc) but the editorial team will still be the same!
Would you be saying the same if it was moving from Television Centre to Broadcasting House? (isn't that a move up north anyway?)

With the Daybreak debacle ITV have no rather spectacularly shown that they don't think it's working. I think it's improved by Daybreak just can't topple the established BBC Breakfast. When BBC Breakfast moves north they'll be fine as they continue to do the same thing. And NO window on the world set either. It can be a seamless transition to Salford like Match Of The Day/Football Focus.
