She's okay at it! She did GMTV with Lorraine a while back! I think Kate should get the permanent post along with the other guy (cant remember his name Sad ) then just new sub presenters

Apparently Natasha Kaplinsky and Eamonn Holmes have been approached for Daybreak..

This suggests a more News orientated programme as opposed to the rumoured more Entertainment based programme methinks...probably wrong though.

I think the best thing ITV could do now is axe Daybreak altogether and launch a new show. Remember once GMTV was tarnished with the whole phone vote saga it only went one way. Obviously I'm not implying Daybreak has done anything like that but in this day an age it's very difficult to brush off negative press which Daybreak has had plenty of. I think personally if ITV wants a more news orientated show (which Daybreak was meant to be) it needs to brand it more in line with ITV News. I know some people say it shouldn't be news focused but that's clearly what the majority of the morning tv viewer ship wants hence BBC Breakfast ratings being nearly double that of Daybreak. Adrian & Christine never struck me as ideal presenters for it coming from a magazine show like The One Show which couldn't be less news focussed. My main problem with Daybreak has been far too many advert breaks between 07:20 & 07:40 which is when i'm in front of the tv (at least a good 6-8 mins is either adverts or sponsorship/competitions). My other gripe is if you are going to advertise an item as being on at a certain time then at least try and stick to it. I know lots of tv/radio shows advertise times for items and it slips but Daybreak very often seems way out of time with some elements.

I'm going to throw another name in: Matt Barbett? He is already working under David Kermode at 5 News, and with Channel 5 using ITN once again from next year, there could be cut-backs... Rolling Eyes Cool

But ITV's soft approach trounced BBC Breakfast for the best part of 2 decades. TV-Am tanked at birth, as did GMTV, but both went on to eclipse BBC Breakfast eventualy. If Daybreak finds it's feet with with a similar modern-day mix of news and tat those viewers will abandon Breakfast as quickly as they arrived.

I've been thinking that and didn't he work with him at Breakfast when Matt was a relief presenter?

Exactly, hence it wouldn't be wise to launch yet another new breakfast brand for ITV considering it would essentially be the same show. Adrian and Christine are convenient scapegoats - most of the blame for Daybreaks woes have (fairly or unfairly) been put on their shoulders rather than the show itself.

Matt was recently on ITV doing the "news review" on "This Morning".

I wasn't really sure if Eamonn & Natasha had the right look for Daybreak, or if they'd go well together. So I did a little mock-up and here's the result.. Daybreak in a few weeks:
