Peter Fincham said in Edinburgh that he was fully committed to Adrian and Christine, and their positions were safe.
Great news about David Kermode though, the past work on BBC Breakfast and 5 News is a great mix, hope he does good things for Daybreak.
Very interesting - and reflecting on some postings earlier in this thread, let's not forget he's the man who edited Breakfast when Natasha Kaplinsky was there and also brought her to Five News.

Because what tv executives say in public and then what actually happens is always the same

Ah, so is this the "big change in September" that has been rumored on here? Did we all incorrectly assume an on-screen change, as opposed to an editorial one?
Now here's a turn up for the books. The new editor of Daybreak will be former BBC Breakfast boss David Kermode.

I was presuming so, as that would be the week of Daybreaks first anniversary.
Can we assume the set changes will happen on Monday, when everything seems to start afresh, like Lorraine back on Lorraine, start of Loose Women, and back to school for most?

It was Lucy Watson on again this morning with Adrian. She seems to have settled into the role of relief presenter quite well, and was very relaxed on the sofa (at least by the end of the programme).

I absolutely agree it is very good news that ITV studios have appointed David Kermode as the new editor of Daybreak given his wealth of experience on BBC Breakfast and 5 news. I remember a few weeks ago suggesting someone like him to move Daybreak forward in a new editorial direction which is more news driven but also has the right balance between light features and more serious items.
However, on the viewing figures front for last week viewing figures did fall between 628,000 on Monday (22/8/11) and 521,000 on Friday (26/8/11) rising back up to 600,000 this week (except Bank Holiday Monday). When the schools go back for the rest of the UK ratings should return back to the 700,000 - 800,000 threshold.

Significant set changes on hold after ITV Studios takeover. Minor set changes from Monday. First hour presented from video wall, 2nd and 3rd hour from sofa. Much euphoria after appointment of Kermode - seen as a solid pair of hands and worthy successor to current respected editor.
