Daybreak did reach a million viewers last december but that was due to the extremely bad weather. I fully agree with the comments made above as forum members have repeatedly argued there does need to be more news orientated content like that of the launch. This week's coverage was excellent and the programme achieved the right balance not just rolling news but with some light features as Badger 264 quite rightly pointed out.
Also it is interesting looking at some of the year-on-year figures between GMTV and Daybreak for the same period last year. For the 6.00 - 8.30 am slot for last week ;
GMTV (2/8/10 - 6/8/10) -
2/8/10 - 648,000
3/8/10 - 712,000
4/8/10 - 664,000
5/8/10 - 610,000
6/8/10 - 636,000
Average: 654,000 (19.7% Share)
Daybreak (1/8/11 -5/8/11) -
1/8/11 - 628,000
2/8/11 - 627,000
3/8/11 - 627,000
4/8/11 - 650,000
5/8/11 - 647,000
Average: 636,000 (17.3% Share)
Figures courtesy of R.Z.T and D.M.N on the DS Forum.
As the figures show there is only a loss of 18,000 viewers or 2.9% compared to last year. I was expecting a bigger difference. Although it is the summer these ratings are really dissapointing yet the news coverage of the past few days have shown ratings can increase.

This was a move made before the launch and was one of their "innovations" (and i use the term loosely!) to make the show appear a bit sexier - a theory i find hard to accept! It seems this is one of the only launch day features that has actually stuck!!
Also why do he male presenters not wear ties?? cant think of another news show that the males don't wear ties!

She was like that at launch, so, so nervous, particularly on location. She seemed to get over her nerves and go back to how she was on Sky News earlier this year, but theres still some weather updates were shes visibly nervous - its very strange how she was never like this on Sky but once she made the transition to Daybreak that all changed.
Lucy sounding extremely distracted and confused during todays weather updates, she seems to start off very nervous and not sure about what she's saying and then speeding up and talkinfg very fast towards the end.

BBC News channel, again, as above.
A tie doesn't have an affect on the journalistic quality of the channel/programme, so who cares if they're not wearing them?

I can't see this to be honest - she's already been confirmed to be hosting London Tonight from September until the new year. Why do they need her? If they move Christine from main anchor (a move I cannot see happen) then they have Kate Garraway who proves very popular and has been confirmed as Friday presenter.
