Yet again great coverage from Daybreak this morning, its like banging your head against a brick wall with them. They can be the breakfast show they first set out to be and still retain the 'GMTV' feel. It happens every time there is a big story.

I find it very sad that there has been no mention anywhere of Cordelia Kretzschmar who not only did reporting from the scene (like a lot of other reporters who are getting praise) but she actually helped a woman whos house was on fire and she was trapped behind her front door with her kids upstairs.

I thought this mornings show was great! breakfasts coverage bored me! great guests and less fluffy things.. should be a bench mark

I totally agree with all the comments made, today's coverage of the nationwide riots on Daybreak was great. I thought they covered it really well with In the Mix and the several interviews with former police commanders as well as the good use of Daybreak / ITV correspondents on all the key locations. Also I liked the TOTH and I thought Tasmin did a reasonable job covering the news headlines.

But as Badger 264 says, it is only when there is a big news story that they produce the good coverage. It will be interesting to see whether the big news event of the London Riots has had any impact on the ratings today if there's any improvement on the 600,000 average.

Today, Adrian was presenting the show alongside Christine as the friendly between England and Holland was cancelled so he was able to present as normal. But the guest presenter would be somebody from the ITV news team. With the merger of Daybreak and ITV news operations, the chance of using ITV news reporters, correspondents and presenters has substantially increased. I was thinking it could have been Keir Simmons or even Geraint Vincent ?

Also in reference to the ratings, Daybreak's did increase yesterday averaging 700,000 with a 15.9% share up from 600,000 on Monday. However, Breakfast attracted 1.8 million with 39.5% share of the audience a significant increase compared with 900,000 average for Lorraine.

I thought Geraint actually. I think him and Nina Hossain would be a great duo to present, if Adrian and Christine were to be moved to different shows within ITV (which doesn't look likely).

So I switched on the TV at 7.50am this morning and it was tuned into ITV - where it said 6.50am on screen.

Are you 100% positive you wasn't watching ITV1+1? I've made that mistake in the past Embarassed .
