They should call it Daybreak with Lorraine. . .

But it's not Daybreak at all, is it?

Why tie it to Daybreak at all? It's rather like asking Ferrari to slap their logo on a Trabant, "just because it's a car". Shocked

I think Lorraine is fine as it is. It gives some continuity to the show and establishes a brand. It should stay as just 'Lorraine' imo! Smile

On a separate note, there are loads of articles floating around today on a similar theme:

Google News Daybreak - Daybreak to revert to GMTV format - although I was under the impression that this happened the 2nd week of broadcast last year?

where do you folks get the viewing figures from?

The viewing figures are collected by Attentional on behalf of BARB, but from time to time you can access them through the DS website, if you look at the 'Ratings Thread', forum members will post viewing figures and audience shares for the vast majority of programmes including Breakfast and Daybreak.

Also I totally agree with bp mikey I thought Daybreak had reverted back to a GMTV format Laughing . However, the theme of trying to recapture the warmthness of GMTV with warm tones maybe a hint of what we might expect with the revamp with a new look set, titles and graphics.

I also came across an article regarding Grainne Seoige in the Irish Herald. It says that she will no longer be returning to Daybreak in her capacity as Features Editor. The article suggests a spokesperson from ITV confirmed this and said they hoped to work again with her in the future. I think it's ashame because I really liked Grainne but she was extremely underused on the programme. I kept thinking the role of Features Editor was a bit pointless even though she is a very good presenter. I always thought she could play a more significant role in the show in any future revamp.

However, the article goes on to say that Grainne is one of a few presenters being considered to co-host the programme alongside Christine every Friday from September when Adrian Chiles cuts back to four days a week. I think it might not be a bad idea to have two female presenters anchoring the programme since its core audience is primarily (not exclusively) housewives with children. I remember a few years back watching GMTV when Kate Garraway presented the show with Emma Crosby and I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't know whether such pairings would work on Daybreak but anything could happen ?

I think I saw John Stapleton the other morning, the first for many months I think. Unless he appeared on Royal Wedding Day?

Saying it isn't Daybreak is like saying LK Today wasn't GMTV. Same correspondents, same news anchor, same graphics, same big bosses, a slight variant on the theme tune. It's a different name but just a continuation of the format. To use a car analogy- MG/Rover would be more appropriate, or even more appropriate Opel and Vauxhall. Your suggestion would be like saying my idea should be to rename BBC Breakfast to Daybreak with Bill & Sian.

I also disagree with those saying it already is back to being GMTV. The format may be the same, but the look and feel of the programme is still very different which is maybe what the main focus now is.

It's probably just a mess up in the EPG, ITV News at 6.30 and 10 programmes have been advertised many times with only one anchor for example the other day the guide said that Andrea Benfield was the only presenter when the programme carries two anchors.

Ok many thanks I don't really look at the EPG that much but I just seen it and thought it was odd, we will wait and see.

Nadia Sawalha (think that's how you spell it) is doing Lorraine tomorrow, so assume that Kate is present ting with Dan.

Daybreak's ratings at the moment seem to be hovering around the 600,000 figure however it is still achieving the same percentage share in viewing audiences (17-18%). I was expecting a bit more of collapse in the ratings but it is still early days. In comparison BBC Breakfast and Lorraine seem to be holding up extremely well with Breakfast attracting 1.4 million and Lorraine getting 1 million viewers. If Daybreak can stabilise it's audiences over the summer holidays then maybe it is an encouraging sign.

Breakfast is usually higher than 1.4 though, so they have both fallen due to the school holidays. Lorraine is obviously not as much effected as it starts at 8:30
