Random reply. But I've recently re read the first few pages of this thread. Seems that the majority of people enjoyed it, even if it was just the first programme. It makes me ask the question why the programme didn't continue like this.

There wasn't really any editorial shift until after the October half term. During the first few weeks the ratings completely collapsed and it was critically panned. That's why they eventually started to make changes and the audience creeped back up.

I don't know about current ratings but watching recently the content seems to have shifted to a more news agenda with more news content than GMTV and less stupid stuff.

The ratings are more or less the same as GMTV between 6-8.30am. In GMTVs defence it did become quite news orientated by the end and the format for the last couple of weeks should have been the pre cursor for Daybreak. Daybreak does seem to be getting the balance right at the minute although the second half of the 7am hour still needs a little more structure. With the impending revamp they should move the regional news from 6.15am to 7.45am to help them with that structure, and because less people watch at 6.15am whilst it has most viewers between 7.30-8am.

Its not groundbreaking news but its worth mentioning, this morning during the 7.15 Granada regional news, there was no clock on screen, a clock quickly flashed up but it was a 'Lorraine' clock (something I've never seen on regional news). That quickly went off and then replaced with the usual Daybreak clock. Its not on the scale of their usual cock ups, but worth mentioning anyway.

The "Lorraine clock" was used during the 9am regional weather, which they no longer have.

Surely the regional news and travel information is of more interest to the people getting ready for work. It should ideally be every 30 minutes between 6:15 and 7:45.

I do agree with you, but it just won't happen unless they reallocate the 6 minutes to having 6 x 1 minute long regional bulletins which would just be stupid, yet somehow not beyond ITV. But there definitely does need to be an update at 7.45 no matter how they do it.

The '50 Greatest Harry Potter Moments' programme just billed Anna Williamson (Ex-Toonattik?) as a Daybreak Correspondent. Is she?

I've not seen her before on Daybreak but apparently she stands in for Kate Garraway to read showbiz news

Yet, a few days ago on Twitter, she confirmed she wasn't... I think this may be false.

I don't really like her on it, when GMTV ended she should have, I think one of the reasons she got the job is because her ex is the editor. New start, new presenters imo.

And, Anna Williamson is on Showbiz this Morning, oddly enough!

I don't see what's odd about that. Kate Garraway presented 'Lorraine' today and Steve Hargrave is in Benidorm for Daybreak Smile
