But even though it's now basically GMTV with windows, viewers are not there as strong as they want. It may have taken months, but people may have come around to the different style programming.
Ben Shepherd was talking about GMTV on ok!tv tonight. He said that he doesn't get chance to watch daybreak, has enjoyed the bits that he's seen. And discussed how viewers find it hard to move on from such a brand like GMTV. Though if daybreak had begun last September everything the same, but with the GMTV name, would things have worked better? Or were they right to move themselves away from the GMTV brand?
Ben makes a valid point; there is even still animosity towards GMTV for taking over TVAM. I'm not sure if things would have been any different had the GMTV name remained but the revamp still happened. It depends if things were handled in the same way with the public axings and hirings. It wasn't just the brand that GMTV viewers were loyal to, but the presenters as well.
Its not groundbreaking news but its worth mentioning, this morning during the 7.15 Granada regional news, there was no clock on screen, a clock quickly flashed up but it was a 'Lorraine' clock (something I've never seen on regional news). That quickly went off and then replaced with the usual Daybreak clock. Its not on the scale of their usual cock ups, but worth mentioning anyway.
