When I saw the headline earlier on this morning I was quite suspicious about the validity of these reports. I'm just so relieved she isn't quitting because I think she's a major asset to the show and presents much better with Adrian (even though I like Dan and Christine).
Also talking about headlines an exclusive published in the Daily Mirror is claiming that Adrian Chiles will cut back his Daybreak hours and from September will only present four days a week. Without knowing the true validity of the story the article suggests that Dan will likely present with Christine on a permanent basis on Fridays.
If it is true then were probably going to see Adrian & Christine / Kate, Monday to Thursdays and Dan and Christine on a Friday. It would probably work similar to This Morning line up with Phil & Holly doing Mondays - Thursdays with Eamonn and Ruth presenting Fridays. However, I would like to see editors bringing back someone like John Stapleton with his wealth of experience alongside someone like Kate or even Helen Fospero. I think would be a great partnership and it could serve to attract disgruntled viewers who miss GMTV ?.

Kate has just confirmed on Twitter that she has or is NOT quitting Daybreak. "I love the show and don't know where these silly rumours have come from".

If true then its quite ironic that the BBC's suggestion for him to go 4 days a week was the whole reasoning behind joining ITV! They should just, as you say, go for a 'This Morning' situation and have Adrian & Christnie doing Monday-Thursday and Kate & Dan on a Friday, with the Friday edition running right through to 9.25am.
However with the football, its likely that he'll only be doing 3-4 days anyway, possibly even just 2 days in some weeks so it could just be a fabricated story from that.
Just going back to the Kate story, it's a wonder that in this day and age they make such stupid articles up when they can be shot down within minutes on Twitter.

Lorraine would have to remain because of the sponsorship.

Or you could have that hour sponsored, "This part of Daybreak is brought to you by...."

Hmm - not quite the same. Adrian was presenting a highly successful BBC One show, and was replaced without any apparent discussion or apparent warning, with a decision that Chris Evans would get the more 'entertainment' guests.
I suspect Adrian and ITV have discussed things - and if he's going to be doing his Sunday show again, it makes sense to drop to 4 days on a failing Daybreak, and give ITV an exit strategy that loses as little face for all concerned

Plus having the programme a completely different length on a Friday, now Daybreak is separate, and suddenly featuring the sort of stuff Lorraine does, on Daybreak would just be odd and not workable.

Oe good thing that the failure of Daybreak has led to is that they now have a core audience of around 700,000, who actually like the show. It is much easier to try and build on this now with a revamp in September, than to risk launching a show in the hope you would inherit all of GFMTV's viewers, plus gain some from Breakfast and Sky.

I thought the AIs contradicted that. Doesn't Daybreak normally feature in the bottom 10 shows each week in the AI tables? If that is the case it suggests that the audience who watch it don't particularly value it - they are just watching it because they aren't watching something else?
The AI figures measure how much an audience watching a programme actually enjoy it, value it, think it's good or bad etc.
Assuming an audience likes a show because they watch it isn't always a good conclusion to jump to, which is why the AIs exist.
