For some reason the first 10 minutes or so of the 8am hour today was a repeat of the 7am hour. Technical problems preventing them being live?

It's now the start of the summer school holidays for the whole of the UK, however what will the holidays mean for the Daybreak's ratings. GMTV always sufferred from lower ratings during the summer holidays but given what we know about Daybreak's performance in terms of viewing figures over the past year the key question is how low could they possibly go ?

For instance during Bank Holidays and also during the Christmas / New Year break Daybreak's viewing figures were quite dire at around 300,000-400,000 whereas BBC Breakfast and Lorraine did not experience the same drop in ratings. However, during the Easter and Mid term May holidays Daybreak managed to maintain an average of 700,000.

I know we've discussed this many times on the forum but it will be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks. If ratings go as low as they have been surely it will attract even more negative media attention with newspapers depicting a 'crisis' on the programme.

Not for the whole of the UK, schools in my area still have another week left.

Which is a shame as Kate was the face of GMTV, she is much better than Christine. I thought she would stay on to try and get her job back when and if Christine left. She is a big loss to Daybreak and she will be missed!
Could the ratings go down?

Wow, didn't see that one coming. I assumed she was waiting to take her job back from Christine at some point. I always thought she'd be on breakfast TV forever too, just like Lorraine. I wonder if that means shes quit completely or if she'll continue to do Fridays on Lorraine? (although she hasn't in a while).

It will be interesting to see who ends up being second to Christine, hopefully they'll bring back Helen or even Fiona. Both have done Lorraine so it isn't beyond possibility. There isn't really anyone else at Daybreak that could do it.

Could it all be a publicity stunt in aim to get more viewers on a new look show in September?

Did not see that one coming, I thought come next year Kate would once again become the face of ITV Breakfast. This must really leave them stuck.

If this is true I suspect that Kate's left because she knows she won't get the main anchor role. This is me assuming that ITV have decided to get rid of Christine and Adrian, and maybe Kate thought she'd get the top job, then shes been told she won't be - so shes quit?

I hope the article isn't right when its suggesting Rav Wilding would get the Entertainment correspondent role, that's ridiculous. If ITV is trying to launch a 'Daybreak 2.0' then SURELY they must realise that drafting in some relatively well-known names won't mean the show is a success.

I won't link to it because I don't want to be accused of promoting as in the past. If you go to ATV Today website, I have spoken with ITV.

As i broke earlier, Kate herself has confirmed on twitter she is NOT quitting Daybreak.

I may not be the professional in the sense of trained at college/uni, but at least I had the sense to check the story - unlike DS shall we say.
