So could all of this mean the big revamp is around the corner?
It could mean a big revamp around the corner but Mike W does raise a very good point in that GMTV had several editors in the last few years yet the content and format remained virtually the same. It will be interesting to see what will happen over the next few months.
Anyway, I can't. TVAM saw countless new editors and retained the same dull format, then TVAM rebranded as GMTV and 10 months on we get TVAM in another guise.
FTFY
Umm, you mean 17 years on, but thanks!
GMTV was basically TVam!
Yeah, but within a year of GMTV's launch, it reverted to the TVAM format. And now Daybreak is doing the same. Kind of goes to prove what was said by several on this very forum about a year ago - there's really only two formats for Breakfast TV that work in this country, and it'll take a lot more than a shiny set and some poached presenters to introduce a new format.

Three formats work;
Breakfast
TVam
and Kay's Midlands Breakfast spectacular *praise Kay*
LOL. At the risk of being rapped for thread creep, could you elaborate on your Yay for Kay campaign a bit more, Mike? You've completely lost me. Who is Kay, and why is it yay? LOL.

Is she a diva of Moiraesque stature?
It's not my campaign, it's the KAGWPC's message of Kayness
I think Daybreak has the potential to be a very strong programme, Adrian and Christine for whatever reason seem to be presenting less together and although they had good chemistry and are clearly friends it’s better for the programme with these new partnerships that seemed to have formed with Adrian and Kate + Dan and Christine , they could revert back to the GMTV rota splitting the week up. However I do worry about the latter as if they are to revert back to a more serious news agenda like was demonstrated in the first week Dan and Christine don’t have that gravitas and that’s why in the opening months of the programme it was either Adrian and Christine or Dan and Kate. However Dan did do some excellent interviews this morning and seems comfortable anchoring news content which there seemed more of today.
Getting presenters out the way the next thing that needs addressing is the studio when Daybreak launched back in September it was stunning but these horrible yellowy setanta sports style yellow panels do put me off watching first thing in the morning, and then when they do not use them they seem to blur the excellent view out they would be much better designing it like this morning if they can’t find a solution to this problem. They also need to make more use of the outside terraced area do the whole show (apart from the news out there) on summer days from there would be a nice touch.
Daybreaks major flaw content, they are in need of more news on the first day there was good quality of reporting with correspondents and experts appearing on the sofa to analyse things now if were lucky we get a 2 minute report from Richard Gaitsford on the days main story at the start of the news bulletins. A newshour would not hurt bring back John who in my view is under used and an asset to any programme or use Adrian and my outsider Chris Roberts (formerly of Sky News) who I believe would do an excellent job alongside a female presenter that is not Kate or Christine (to fluffy duffy) possibly use Tasmin or Helen Fospero , Andrea Benefield or even Lucy Watson in my view would all do excellent jobs. Then in the 7am start with the in the mix and balance the content like it was today and obviously after 8 keep it as it is that would be fine and would mix it fine for most.
How about:
News Hour - Tasmin & Nick Dixon
Mon-Adrian & Kate
Tue-Dan & Christine
Wed-Adrian & Christine
Thu & Fri-Kate & Dan
I think that spacing out the week with alternate duo's each day would make more sense for the people that don't like say Dan & Chritine as a duo can watch the other four days of the show...
How about:
News Hour - Tasmin & Nick Dixon
Mon-Adrian & Kate
Tue-Dan & Christine
Wed-Adrian & Christine
Thu & Fri-Kate & Dan
That's a bit of a mix up...
How about:
Monday - Wednesday:
Anchors: Adrian and Kate (Kate leading)
Sport: Dan
Showbiz: Christine
News: Helen Fospero
Thursday - Friday
Anchors: Dan and Helen/Christine (Helen / Dan leading)
Sport: Gavin / Chris Hollins (once he's left Breakfast)
Showbiz: Christine (if she doesn't anchor) / Steve
News: Tasmin

NBC's Today format works across the pond (I guess it's a sort of cross between Breakfast and TVam)
And as a child of the 80's, I'll always have a soft spot for The Big Breakfast's early days (I appreciate that they'll never go down that road in a million years!)

You seems to have this fascination with Adrian and Kate presenting together all the time - they obviously want the golden couple to present together - end of.
and whats with all these fantasy pairings of presenters popping up today?

Anchors: Adrian and Kate (Kate leading)

Showbiz: Christine
Do you honestly think there'd ever in a milliion years have Christine doing a lower job of being the Showbiz reporter, even less chance that she would whilst Kate was presenting? Would never happen, just stupid to suggest it.
These thread is just becoming unreadable - the same boring speculation is just being posted in here again and again by the same people and will no doubt untill September. All it's going to do is put insiders like anoilrag off posting here!

I think with all of the money that Adrian and Christine are given, they should at least work the full 6-8:30, and preferably work 5 days a week to earn it, even though they are not very good together now. On Tuesday, Adrian and Christine had a slight tiff on an item about underwear - Christine wanted to look at a pair of pants that Dr Hillary gave to him and he didn't want her too. It looked quite serious and Christine clearly looked put-out. Sounds weird but true!
