If it took 10 days to revamp Studio 7 for Daybreak with the 'significant set changes' coming does that mean the work could last more than several days therefore meaning that Daybreak would have to be broadcast from another studio perhaps? Or as I thought maybe they will do it during the weekend to minimise disruption to the programme.

If you remember, I think it was in 2008?, GMTV was presented from a little conservatory thing for a day or two, I can't really remember, due to studio maintenance. Perhaps we will se something like that again?

It will be interesting to see how they will deal with 'significant set changes' maybe presenting from another studio. But, if the weather is warm and dry they could use the outside window terrace. They hardly ever use the terrace only for a few interviews.

Also when I was looking online I came across a clip from August 2001 when GMTV temporally used Studio 7 as the old Studio 5 was getting a major refit. To be honest it doesn't really look that radically different from the Daybreak studio now with the red sofa. But, it shows with a smaller sofa they could use the studio space much more effectively particularly during the darker mid-winter mornings.

What year was it when GMTV came from the conservatory courtesy of an OB van & they couldn't do local news because of it?

(It was the same day the ITV Mid Morning local news was anything but local, as Central presented a generic bulletin for most regions except London!)

2008. It was every region from the London STC, actually, including London. Because STC was offline for Electrical maintenance.

They always used to do GMTV over the weekend, by starting work as soon as they came off air. Theres no reason why they can't do the same for Daybreak.

These clips of GMTV make Daybreak look dreadful. Perhaps it's the sunny logo or the bed, but GMTV was just so much friendlier and had much more energy.

Daybreak could do with an image overhaul, and bringing back the GMTV music which is synonymous with morning TV with pretty much everybody.

I wouldn't say bring back the GMTV music but maybe the graphics/look as i thought they we're some of the best in breakfast TV

GMTV was bright, yes.

GMTV was stale, yes.

Daybreak is contemporary, minimalist, simple. I like it. Sadly it doesn't suite the ethos of the programme.

The last era of GMTV was awful, and was too bright and the music was too screechy for that time in the morning. Presentationally it was nice up until 2009 but it did become very dated by the end. Daybreak is a good step forward and the music isn't too different from GMTV anyway, but I hope that when they relaunch they opt for red/orange and keep it simple instead of going back to blue and yellow. It just needs to feel a bit warmer.

Kate Thornton is not returning to Loose Women in September then, she was tipped to host Daybreak with Eamonn Holmes before Adrian and Christine's move to ITV so I wonder if she will be part of a new-look Daybreak in September???

I think if Adrian and Christine are replaced they'll be replaced by news presenters, not someone like Kate Thornton, who is just another Christine in many ways - no real experience of anchoring a news programme.

If Nina Hossain weren't pregnant (of course many congratulations to her that she is) I'd have put my money on her to be a replacement for Christine, she presented GMTV with Lorraine for a week in 2010 and also is a member of the ITV News team. As for who'd replace Adrian, I'm not sure - Dan's popular but would he really fit the bill?
