The big concern with Breakfast moving is whether they can get guests to come up to Salford. IF they can't, then that could damage the content of the programme.

I think that this may have been overplayed. Breakfast is killing Daybreak in the earlier hours more than later - and does Breakfast have that many big names on the sofa before 7.30?

Well... It's Tuesday, 21st June. This only means one thing, that between now and whenever, We're gonna be getting crapper views on Daybreak every morning!

I would put a fair bit of money on that if Daybreak brought in Penny Smith & John Stapleton back to the sofa and presented the entire programme (without a seperate newsreader) it would pick up. They had great chemistry on screen and were very alert for first thing in the morning without being over the top. Adrian & Christine sometimes come across to me like they don't really want to be there at all. I hate it when Adrian slouches on the sofa, really looks like he cant be bothered sometimes. Before anyone says why do I watch it, I have no control of the tv in the morning in this house.

I don't even think Penny and John are necessary - just a move towards this content and format would surely make the show pick up. What is needed is some consistency . At the moment, there is a consistent format, albeit consistently bad. Saying this, I do actually watch Daybreak, but I pity it!

the last thing I would want to see happen is an easier ride for politicians.

I think I can agree with you there!!

The awful yellow blinds will be back in about 3 months Sad. If they insist on bringing the blinds back, they could at least make them purple. The purple wall actually looks OK and not too bright.

What is it with Daybreak and only having one clip of stock footage of a jobcentreplus? Seriously, every time there's a story about a benefit they reel out the Jewellery Quarter Jobcentre that GMTV used to use all the time, it's kind of irritating.

I totally agree from now on the views will get worse and probably around the end of September they will start deploying those hideous big yellow blinds. Unless they were to use the luminous yellow screens they had before the New Year but they made the set look extremely cluttered.

As previously discussed, when Adrian Chiles was interviewed on This Morning a few weeks ago he said they had the production team working on it when questioned about the dark mornings. It's difficult to see what they could do to the set during the colder winter mornings. I agree with Badger 264 maybe they could use of the space in the studio more effectively and present from a different part of the studio instead of the big windows. The idea being they would have a winter presentation area with the sofa and desk.

They could as a last resort they could revamp the studio completely or rebuild the Daybreak set in GMTV's old studio 5 and have a fake backdrop where the windows would be. However, it would increase operating costs at a time when ITV Breakfast's profits have halved. But re-introducing a fake backdrop (like TV-am / GMTV) defeats the purpose of having the Daybreak studio in the first place.

GMTV used to do that with stories on obesity too, the same clip of fat women walking down the high street with their bum crack showing out of their jeans, and then a fat kid eating Wotsits at the swimming baths (or something like that).

Yup; They weren't even Wotsits - they were CO-OP Cheesy Puffs, he was christened 'Cheesy puff boy' by me.

Thanks for that info, I assume its for September. Are they staying in the same studio/keeping the windows? And will it include graphic changes? They could do with the same colour scheme throughout both the set and graphics.

From what has been said over the past week along with that info, it looks like they're finally setting the wheels in motion to fix some of the problems instead of being complacent and letting it play out how they want it to be rather than how viewers want it.
