If that's the case, it's the perfect opportunity for Daybreak to 'beef up' its content. Interestingly the last few 'Viewback Panel' questions have been based around such things like content, 'How do you rate Tasmin Lucia Khan', 'Does Daybreak have enough news content?' etc.
The big concern with Breakfast moving is whether they can get guests to come up to Salford. IF they can't, then that could damage the content of the programme.

Glad to hear she was on TV as I was listening to BBC Radio Five Live this Afternoon and she was reading the news.
Good to see Helen back - a very underrated presenter - or perhaps underused

If they poach the BBC Breakfast team then they'll be able to capture the viewers who don't like change, but the BBC are one step ahead and have been using presenters likely to get the job, so any change won't be of great effect.
They shouldn't wait to relaunch Daybreak, if they can get the presenters and format spot on long before BBC Breakfast goes to Salford then any viewers who wish to switch over will see a faultless format rather than a disjointed and uninformative one. The key to relaunching the show is doing it low key. They need to make it known that Daybreak has relaunched (which can be done subtly through the trails they do on ITV) but not in an OTT way with Adrian & Christine on every billboard.
On the subject of Helen Fospero, it's a shame she was never included in Daybreak but she was at one point rumoured to get Christines job, in which case it has turned out well because she could have found herself on the scrap heap with her name dragged through the dirt. But if they do relaunch Daybreak and get rid of Adrian & Christine I would like to see her as second female presenter, assuming Kate reclaims her old position.
I may appear a little naïve here, but can I ask why Daybreak should take advantage of Breakfast moving to Salford? That is to say, why will Breakfasts move make any difference at all? I was under the impression that the show 'Breakfast' in terms of content, was bigger than it's presenters - therefore a change in presenters wouldn't impact ratings or popularity at all. Just curious! I personally think that there is no time like the present to revamp Daybreak, and not wait until Breakfast moves.

But surely a split screen with a film of a guest is just as good when interviewing politicians? What does is matter that guests aren't in the studio - breakfast TV shows are often just background noise, so you don't always see that a guest is live in the studio anyway. the BBC has a good reputation for agenda setting news and is the most popular morning show so I can't see the location being a deterrent to guests.

Its also only a 3 hour train journey away, its not like This Morning in Liverpool which used to be harder to get to. They could end up opting for a London based presenter/doing on location interviews or even a separate show at 8.30am.

"Body language", eye contact and other aspects of a person's physical demeanour play a part in interviews, which is much more difficult to conceal when you're face to face, as opposed to staring glassily at a down-the-line camera lens.
Politicians are very good and delivering whatever points they want to make when being interviewed remotely, but that doesn't always tell the viewer what they might otherwise glean from a studio interview on the sofa.
And quite honestly, the last thing I would want to see happen is an easier ride for politicians.

I think we're forgetting that people's arguments about big names (despite the politicians argument which I don't think is a big issue - a vast amount of interviews are done down-the-line to Westminster now anyway) are referring to those that are on after 8:30. Daybreak is finished by then and Lorraine takes over, so if anything it would benefit Lorraine, not Daybreak (although as I said I don't think it will make a difference).

I would put a fair bit of money on that if Daybreak brought in Penny Smith & John Stapleton back to the sofa and presented the entire programme (without a seperate newsreader) it would pick up. They had great chemistry on screen and were very alert for first thing in the morning without being over the top. Adrian & Christine sometimes come across to me like they don't really want to be there at all. I hate it when Adrian slouches on the sofa, really looks like he cant be bothered sometimes. Before anyone says why do I watch it, I have no control of the tv in the morning in this house.

Penny & John with the Newshour format right across the morning (they did do lighter topics and entertainment too) would almost certainly be a winner. I'm not sure either would do it though which is a shame, and its very sad the way they forced Penny out.
Another issue is regional news. People simply want to know the weather & travel news in their area and the bulletins aren't enough. Lets face it, they aren't going to add in anymore bulletins and as the 6am hour gets very low viewing figures, the 6.15am bulletin should be moved to 7.45am where more people watch. It could also let them focus more on news at 6am and tighten up the latter half hour from 7.30am.

I think Penny and John would be great for a sort of First Edition programme - from 6am to 7am. Then at 7, bring in Adrian and Christine to welcome in some lighter feature into the mix, whilst still maintain the balance between news, human interest and lighter features. At 9, Lorraine can come on.
