There aren't really any new/breaking/major stories and that particular story is one of big interest so will draw in the viewers more than a feature telling us the ash cloud has passed over. Its no different to leading with the Ryan Giggs story, as the major news bulletins did. And of course with no regular 'Lorraine' this morning, the feature was bound to come up at some point.

Agreed Badger. It just seems like any excuse to have a go at Daybreak now. Yes, everyone is well aware that it hasn't got off to a great start but they're not doing any wrong reporting on the days big story.

I do think that Adrian & Kate/Chritine & Dan, works better than Adrian & Christine though, not sure why!?

It's completely different. The Ryan Giggs story isn't about him being a celebrity and having an affair; the story is about the wider, important issue about super-injunctions. Cheryl Cole being sacked from X-Factor is showbiz news. I'm not saying that Daybreak shouldn't have ran with the story (as someone else said, if that's what viewers want, then fair enough) but it's not the same.

If Daybreak want to focus on celebrities and funny stories then fine. If they believe people will watch it then again, fine, but don't go branding yourself as "Daybreak, setting the days agenda" if you don't.

The super injunction thing was just an excuse to report it until they found a way of getting his name out there. The super injunction issue rumbles on, but we haven't heard anything since he was named. Coincidence? If it was a different footballer who had a lower profile, noone would care. And arguably, the Cheryl Cole story was "setting the days agenda". Its been on most news bulletins, discussed at length on the internet and no doubt been spoken about in real life too. It might be innane showbiz nonsense but you can't deny the interest in the story. Setting the agenda doesn't have to be whats going on in Libya or any other hard hitting story.

And so I suppose you'd say the same thing about Andrew Marr, that big celebrity... The story is about Super Injunctions. Yes, of course the media want to talk about Giggs, but no matter if it had been Giggs or, as you said, a lower profile footballer, the story would have come out as part of the on-going Super Injunction issue.

Was the story discussed in depth on Breakfast? I actually don't know but I doubt it (anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong! Smile ). I personally cannot even contemplate how ridiculous it is that Libya and Cheryl Cole could be put under the same title as 'News Agenda'.

The BBC News Channel has it in it's headlines and has done all day I think - disappointing really..

When it was Andrew Marr, it was done and dusted within one news item because he isn't that high profile. Super injuctions were then an issue, but noone really cared about them and they were relegated to third or fourth on news running orders. Throw in a big celebrity name and suddenly its the lead story on every news bulletin. That story is just an excuse for the news outlets to discuss Ryan/Imogen whilst retaining a shred of credibility, don't let them kid you.

I would like to see a News section on the Daybreak website. I know there is ITV News, however, for a program that incorporates news presentation into it's on air broadcast, I think news should be incorporated into the online medium. The website has a weather feature, so surely a news bit goes hand in hand? The headlines at least! How I miss my 5-A-Day!

GMTV only had news updates through various external links (as was noticed after the programme finished but the website kept on updating.) I was hoping there would be a news page, but I suppose it would be pointless for a morning programme to have news on their website for the morning and not be updated until the following morning that they are on air. Breakfast don't have anything like that.

And even after all that, if I was to go online in the morning Daybreak would not be the news website I visit first even though I watch it in the morning. I would visit BBC & Sky.

Find it funny how when discussing the new X Factor judging panel it's Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Kelly Rowland and Tulisa from N-Dubz! Very Happy
