The difference with This Morning is that it isn't watched for only a few minutes at a time and I'd imagine most viewers watch it more or less from start to finish. The timing of the skirt segment probably wasn't an issue though as those watching after 8am are probably more likely to watch for longer than those watching at 6am or 7am.
The major issue is Chiles. He clearly isn't suited to this program, whether it be serious news or lighthearted banter. He's way out of his depth, and his opinions on certain subjects seem to be stuck in a neanderthal age.
Good to see that today Daybreak is focusing on the 'newsier' side of things with the queens visit to Ireland, the court appearance of Strauss Kahn and the bombings in Tripoli.
Anyone know where I might find a copy of Dan Stevens interview on Daybreak on 18th May? He seems to be slating Daybreak for it on Twitter.
Try the video section of the Daybreak site, most of the interviews are uploaded there!
It was a really woeful interview, first of all it was split with a advert break, and secondly more than half of the interview was spent pointing out the differences between Downton Abbey and TOWIE, as both are up for a BAFTA. I don't even think they asked about the new series.
I'm not against charity but Daybreak isn't the right format for it. Dump it on one of the other daytime programmes instead, even Lorraine.
Friday's programme was very good, a good balance between news and making humour at the headlines (e.g. Christine cracking up at the thought of the Queen having The X Factor on Sky+ for Sunday afternoons). Obviously not something they could do every day, but the chemistry of the team is starting to gel, and when they take a further step forward, they go and launch another gimmick item that belongs in 1986.
