I liken it to a ryvita. It fills a gap with little filling and substance. Within 10 mins I'm hungry for something more fullfilling. I really cannot start my day on it.
My job involves me having some knowledge of current affairs to get through the day. I start the morning with sky and BBC breakfast now and for local stuff it's bbc radio Kent.
I know I'm a hairdresser and all that but I can't talk about kittens and fluffy bunnies all day, contrary to popular belief.
It's just far too slow. They have advert breaks in the stupidest of places, and they will spent absolutely ages talking about one uninteresting story or doing one rubbish interview. They spent about 6 minutes this morning talking to an old woman who beat up thieves with her handbag. First problem, the story is old and crap. Second problem, most people in mornings watch for short amounts of time which means their entire morning TV was that part of the show. Thirdly, they spent half the time talking about what's coming up, showing confused looking celebrities sitting in the green room! I could sit here all day and tell you how badly organised the show is.
The entire concept of the show as something new and different is completely ruined. All the new open glass panels , London view and modern-ness have gone, with ugly blinds and giant red sofas in it's place. It's just GMTV, but worse and with a balcony. Such a shame, because the show started out decently and just needed a few tweaks, but now it's almost beyond repair.
I spent a bit of time watching an episode from the first week the other day, I didn't watch it all as there were elements of repetition, but what I did watch was a good new & interesting formula. It was like a hybrid of GMTV, RI:SE mk I and The Big Breakfast. I liked it, plus being the first week Adrian & Christine were enjoying it, having fun but also being serious when needing to be. It was by no means perfect, but offered something different, that would appeal towards a younger audience whilst looking modern & having content that would still appeal to old GMTV viewers. Whilst items like daybreakers seemed very odd in the first hour, it's something that could have worked well by just showing a clip in the last half hour.
I'd love to see them experiment a bit more to provide something different, though something with more substance. The big names are interesting when they have them on, the dolly parton final part of the show last week was a good edition. And the banter, and light features are working well. It just doesn't seem to hold much relevance to the days events.
With the current format however they should create a brilliant edition for the royal wedding.
They should really ditch Lorraine (as it's a Friday & a bank holiday so she wouldn't be on), and have a long and filled edition.
One final point about the titles. The music is fine, and quite catchy. The images though are mainly of people leaving work or outside the home, the one main shot of a house is the woman opening the door to leave. Where as similar titles to these such as the original Big Breakfast & original GMTV openers both ended arriving at the house/studio, where as daybreak just ends on a shot of London, yes a shot of their view of London, but still just a shot of London. It may not be much, but I was just thinking how psychologically this sends a message across with shots of everybody doing everything other than associate themselves with daybreak.
The roof terrace made its debut today, it's a lot smaller and further away from the studio than I imagined it would be but it is quite nice.
I had a very early start today and missed the show, what was it like and are there any pics or clips of it!?
Not quite a cap, but as I missed Daybreak this morning, I looked on the website and found this, gives a decent indication of what the balcony looks like. Lot nicer than the other balacony.
Also just thinking - I might have got muddled up, but IIRC were the big Daybreak panels across the bottom of the windows not suppose to be temporary whilst the balcony was being set up? Now thats done and the panel's haven't come down, I wonder if there going to stay permanantly now? I hope not - don't think there that wonderful myself.

According to DigiGuide, Lorraine isn't on the day of the Royal Wedding - an extended edition of Daybreak goes until 9:25am when the network coverage kicks in

Actually, Daybreak ends at 8.25am. That's when Julie Etchingham and Phillip Schofield take over.
Drew, I think what you mean is "it's gasping for breath". I agree with most of you: it's a classic case of beyond repair and should be canned. The entire programme is woeful and the presenters have now become a laughing stock.
It's what someone on here used to call "Eldorado-itus."

The whole thing has been a laughing stock since day 1, apart from a slight reprieve in the press around October/November when there was marked improvement in quality and the ratings. But it has since dropped, but in a completely different direction. Adrian & Christine are competent presenters but the format is terrible and Adrian isn't really suited to the show. Any future changes should involve Dan & Christine, despite a terrible format they work together really well and with the right vehicle could be a classic breakfast TV duo.
ITV should have really put Daybreak on a trial over the summer months to use the windows at their best, and seen how the public reacted to the new show, then they could've tried out Daybreak, or as I like to call it
Daybroke
without making ITV Breakfast a laughing stock!

I'm sure the panels weren't there this morning, I think they have been taken down.
