Looking at this, I guess that they'll just pave the surface and put a barrier around it! Not sure why they didn't do this to start with tbh! Exclamation

Because perhaps it wasn't intended as an area to walk on, or use in this way. You also have to consider what is underneath, and whether the structure was intended to support equipment on the roof.

The barrier is to stop people accidentally walking off the edge, perhaps? Shocked

Not all Health & Safety rules are complete schmuck, you know.

Weatherwise its probably better to build now, also they wouldn't have got much use out of it over the winter months and it might have ended up looking dirty by now. By building it just before intended use it looks a lot fresher.

As already pointed out you also need to remember its only a roof, you can't just stick paving slabs on a roof or Adrian & Christine could find themselves downstairs with Lorraine! (or whatever else is below there). Otherwise they could have built it in a day or two instead of it taking a few weeks as it has done.

Did the roof terrace make its debut today? I'm guessing that, as it was only about 6 degrees this morning, it probably didn't...!

Interesting use of schmuck - a Yiddish pejorative meaning an obnoxious, contemptible person.

On topic, Daybreak has really fallen back off the radar for me. How are its viewing figures?

I think Stuart meant to say schlock (rubbish).

I loved the set at the beginning but the content put me off. Then I gave it the benefit of the doubt for a few weeks but I just cannot get into it. I'm not sure why really. The set is nice but now in the mornings I'd rather put the radio on and have a quick news and weather update from sunrise.
Mind you I did watch it the other morning for Dolly Parton.

The roof terrace made its debut today, it's a lot smaller and further away from the studio than I imagined it would be but it is quite nice.

I had a very early start today and missed the show, what was it like and are there any pics or clips of it!?

Oh no! I again managed to watch an extended segment of Daybreak on the www. Am I being too cruel and inaccurate to simply state that the whole thing is a pile of sh!te and should be consigned to the trash? It really is a woeful excuse for television. I am sorry to say, but the presenters are awful and seem to be trying too hard to smile and gush their way through the program.

I was one of the first people on this forum who said "give it time to bed in". It's had more than enough time to bed in and its now worse than it was at the beginning, not better.

My opinion, which not everyone here in this thread will agree with. But, my opinion nonetheless.

Edit: opinions somewhat vindicated by the fact that the last several pages are all related to paving stones and structural designs for a bloomin' terrace or patio outside the studio. Is that as good as it gets?

Its basically decking with a glass/metal barrier around it with some flower boxes. Nothing too extravagent.

I still find it mildly watchable but I don't find it informative and I don't feel the need to put it on in the morning.

Daybreak in its current form appears to be a hybrid of The One Show and GMTV circa 2007 and has gone full circle to the extent it is definitely a lost cause and isn't even slightly salvagable. ITV need to either go back to square one and attempt yet another show or do a massive u-turn and bring back GMTV. It also appears to not know what audience it is targetting so it ends up a mish mash of everything and not in a good way. Persevering with Daybreak will continue to cause ITV just as much embarrassment as admitting they were wrong to axe GMTV would.

Daybreak continues to dominate the Audience Appreciation figures, viewers last week rated an episode worse than Sing If You Can!
