Must admit I'm starting to give up on Daybreak, I seem to see more adverts than actual programme during the 20-30 mins I see of it in the morning.
Yep, I don't know if there are significantly more ads than the GMTV days but this is part of the problem.
As viewers I'd say we are a lot less tolerant of ads than we used to be given the prevalance of Sky +, PVR's etc. This lack of tolerance is magnified at breakfast when people probably only watch for short periods of time. And of course I understand that ads are a requirement for commercial TV, so you have to make sure that the content in-between is worth watching. And of course with Daybreak it simply isn't. Perhaps ITV need to do some product placement deals and get a coffee maker in shot behind Adrian.
Daybreak's content is all over the place, you never really know what you are going to get and when, there is still too many of those phone in competitions and those 1 minute guides into the ads. Today we had a guide to interpretting dreams ?!!
I also think it's reaching the stage where personnel have to be changed. Let Adrian stick to football and other presenting duties, build up a career for Christine on light entertainment. I know he's unlikely to want to move from Sky, but I think a team like Eamon Holmes and Helen Fospero might stand a chance.
But to be honest I can't see that ITV (or any commercial TV broadcaster) can ever top the breakfast ratings again.
