The majority of this review won't be carried over to on screen.

That's a very definite statement given your numerous "I think" comments in the rest of the post.

Wouldn't that tell you something about my opening statement then? Wink And on a pedantic level I don't have any "I think" comments.

Sounds interesting regarding the news merge and the change of sofas.
The news merge sounds like a good way to cut costs at itv, and should realistically boost both services, using itv news reporters for major events, and can also increase the itv morning news service by using the daybreak reporters already on location.

As for the sofas, very strange to change to a different colour, especially with the logo & graphics being purple focussed. I may be the only one who likes the purple. I think it sits nicely in the studio without taking your attention away on screen, especially with the set being quite minimilistic. In normal life I love red, but it does seem to get overused for tv sofas.

Your not the only one! I didn't use to like them but I do now. Red, cream, orange or any other coulor wouldn't go with the graphics. Could we see new graphics been introduced?

Mmmm...companies merge departments as a matter of course.

There is no need for the pre-pubescent forumers to change their nappies just yet. Shocked

No doubt the sofa change for Daybreak was co-incidental.

In terms of the ITV News changes - surely it was a case of when not if the news departments were going to be merged. Once GMTV became a full part of ITV, there was no logic in running two separate news operations in one organisation, particularly as ITN has experience of tailoring output to outlets (C4 News, ITV News and at one point Five News all had/have very different editorial styles and ITN were/are able to produce effective output for all of these outlets)

It also, presumably, allows Daybreak to be run less like a news operation for the non-news output - whereas at the moment it is effectively a newsroom operation with features grafted on?

Didn't Ant & Dec pinch the sofa yesterday, along with the BBC Breakfast sofa, for Comic Relief?

Kirsty returns in June according to her Twitter account. I take it Lucy will want some time off before then, will we see Philippa Tomson like at christmas or I think someone else covered at Christmas too, Fred? Not sure.

With News merging I don't see why Weather is separate? Someone from National is probably easier to get so Regional Weather don't get affected.

Philippa Thomson from Tyne Tees? I think you're meant to call her "Pip" to increase the creepy quota.
