I think ITV could have one last ditch attempt of making it a good success and poaching Eamonn Holmes back from Sky.

I agree with that - not only has Eamonn got some brilliant credibilitiy journalistically, but he's also a blast from the past with GMTV when it was at its highest peak, which can surely do no harm?

All they need then is Penny Smith on the news and lord knows I may even start watching! Laughing What a wasted talent that woman is.

Christine appearing on Celebrity Juice tonight is clearly an attempt to create a more likeable relationship between her and the audience. They are really pushing her, also with the new gameshow she has.

I can't see ITV making any big changes to Daybreak in the near future, and if there are any it will only be changes to the format IMO.

Possibly - though it's the kind of thing Christine would probably have done if asked anyway. She was pretty up for doing stuff similar to that when she was on The One Show.

Though I suspect Avalon - her agents - are doing their best to push her particularly on their shows (like Harry Hill's TV Burp - which is an Avalon production)

I wonder if Avalon are still happy that they brokered the deal for them both to move to Daybreak...

I can't see anything changing until September. Then, I think there will be some drastic revamps!

They should at least wait till breakfast moves to Manchester, it will have an effect on whats guests they can get, the down the line interviews will make it feel less personal and people will wonder why Breakfast is suddenly so keen on promoting Corrie.

Breakfast shows never work out in their first incarnation, so when they do a revamp its probably best to go a little ahead of BBC Breakfast so they've got time to establish themselves properly. That way they can iron out the problems before people could switch over, because a BBC Breakfast viewer could put a revamped Daybreak on, realise how rubbish it is and then switch back. They could do with more journalistic credibility and they need those interviews that make all of the other news outlets. GMTV was very good at that, an extreme example being THIS interview with an anti-war protester.

I forgot how competent Kate could be when she wanted to be and on a show that originally was supposed to be a bit more upmarket and news orientated, it's a shame shes being wasted by basically being given a studio based version of Carla Romano's old job.

Daybreaks views are loyal and do like the show, if they were replaced would the viewers carry on watching?

With respect, what evidence have you to back up the claim that Daybreak's view[ers] are loyal? The second there is a reason not to watch, such as holidays, Daybreak's ratings fall much more (proportionally) than its rivals, while Audience Appreciation figures suggest it's one of the least valued shows around.

Hmm - I think people are obsessing about the later bits of Breakfast (the 0830-0915 bridge) which currently relies on celeb guests quite heavily.

The first 2.5 hours of Breakfast, which are much newsier and far less reliant on celebs in the studio, still massively outrate Daybreak significantly and I doubt they will change much in Salford - though of course the Breakfast presenting line-up might.

Except that Breakfast Time - the BBC's first Breakfast service (which launched unexpectedly before TVam in 1983) pretty much did work out on its first incarnation pretty well. It beat TVam for quite a while after they launched...

The BBC is the only channel to generally do well with breakfast TV launches, but isn't without its problems. Breakfast Time eventually turned into another news bulletin, and then changed back again when it became BBC Breakfast News. TVAM and GMTV both had disaster starts and Channel 4 have had no luck since Big Breakfast, with 2 incarnations of RI:SE and the short lived Dermot O'Leary show.

It would be interesting to see how Channel 4 would cope with a breakfast show in 2011, especially with a flaking audience at Daybreak.

Hmm - I have fond memories of The Channel Four Daily. I don't have fond memories of RI:SE (or whisper it - The Big Breakfast...)
