SI
sir
Im surprised at the negative comments regarding Mondays oscar show. I'm sure what the other channels were doing but BBC Radio 5live had similar theme to there breakfast show, crossing often to there entertainment reporter in LA. I seriously think that some people on here shouldn't watch daybreak if all they are going to do is moan. It's appealling to a new demographic and obviously half the people on here are not in it and should watch the Beeb or Sunrise on Sky!

I wasn't aware that Daybreak were trying to appeal to a different audience to the one they had with GMTV.

What is your evidence for this radical shift in their target demographic?

He didn't say they were "trying to appeal to a younger audience", merely that they are.

He was referencing a quote from Adam Crozier.

Quote:
Clearly it has had a difficult introduction but the numbers have now settled down. It is bringing in a younger audience and the programme has got a lot better over the last few months. The key thing is to keep investing

No trouble.

Before Daybreak launched, ITV wanted it to be more upmarket and it has gone the complete opposite way. However, with ABC1 viewers up a whopping 2%, theres no denying it has been a huge success for their original aims.

Daybreak is quite good at the minute but I can see them relaunching in September. But I don't think both Adrian & Christine will leave/be sacked, although one might go. I think the format will go back to how GMTV was (more news and current affairs) with the presenter set up being similar.

I seem to have a felling either Adrian will go and Christine will move to Showbiz and Kate Present with Dan or Christine leave with Adrian and Grainne do the showbiz, maybe bring Andrew in for the Sport? Emma to do Thurs-Fri?

They'll never let Christine 'move to Showbiz', not for her salary. I think ITV will want her to stay as the host of Daybreak, more so than Adrian anyway. I think Christine is getting more popular with the audience now, so I can't see them promoting Kate anytime soon.

I'm not sure Kate will actually become a main presenter Daybreak. She has a very good deal, if I'm not mistaken she gets a similar pay to what she got at GMTV, whilst doing far less work. She also has a good presenting job each Friday, alongside covering for Christine so still gets involved with that side of things anyway. Dan & Christine will most likely become the faces of Daybreak but I think ITV could have one last ditch attempt of making it a good success and poaching Eamonn Holmes back from Sky.

Besides, as good as Kate is on Daybreak, Kate was one of the main faces of GMTV and that wasn't axed for no reason. By making Kate the main presenter, they're admitting full on defeat and taking things back exactly how they used to be. That said, if they did somehow get Eamonn back, Eamonn & Christine from Monday-Wednesday and Kate & Dan on Thursday & Friday could work well, just as long as she isn't the main face.

Just going slightly off topic, does anyone find Lorraine having her own studio a little pointless? It might be the most successful part of ITV Breakfast and the extra studio is good for us pres fans, but the costs must surely outweigh any positives? I can imagine both shows coming from the same studio in September.

Why?

*wishes people would actually explain why they think something should happen rather than just proclaiming it should*

If Christine isn't one of the main presenters, she won't be involved in the show at all, not on her salary and with her status. She's on a multi-million pound deal - and ITV couldn't justify her being "just" a showbiz presenter with that in place.
