Daybreak: 6:00 - 9:00
Daybreak with Lorraine: 9:00 - 10:00

If Stv and Utv don't like it they can opt out and loose viewers

I've often thought Lorraine should be on 09:00-10:00, but one problem with this is, what would fill the gap of half an hour. Another thought I had was having Lorraine on at the above time and then This Morning 10:00-12:00 (It would make a lot of sense too, considering the show is currently on till 12:30 thus not really fitting the title past midday) but one thing that strikes you is the similarities between Lorraine and This Morning, that's why I think Jeremy Kyle splits them well.

Lorraine could have a break at 9.25 for them to opt out, as long as the papers and one feature have been completed. I am sure STV would continue to show a scot. A simple repeat/gameshow would fill the 10 - 10.30 gap. It would be the opposite of the two programme styles either side.

Are you bloody living on cloud cuckoo land or what?

The schedule's fine. It's just the programming that's crap

Its not as simple as just running it past 9.25am and letting the rest opt out. ITV Breakfast and ITV1 still operate individually so wold end up with a lot of financial conflict over splitting a show across the two franchises. Adding STV and UTV in just over complicates things. And then it will throw all of their timings off later in the day because programmes will be starting at half past the hour. The structure of ITV daytime is fine as it is, their only real problem in daytime is the struggling Daybreak but frankly they need to sort peak time before they make any radical changes to daytime.

Instead of messing with presenters and moving programme's, maybe they at first should try extending daybreak, especially in situations such as next week where Lorraine is not on air to see how the programme copes in the extended slot. They could put back a lot of the entertainment interviews to a later slot.

The other day whilst going through some recordings I came across the 3rd programme from back in September. I thought the opening worked a lot better back then having a chat with Dan & Kate at top of the hour rather than throwing to them, and then introducing the first story which in this case was the American burning quran issue.
This not only flowed better, but meant that the main story seemed to have more time given to it.

I'm not daybreaks biggest viewier but I do think it's getting better then it was, the only thing I do think was better was the way the show use to end with music and like a montage of the days show.

Yeah they should bring back the Closing

Definetely, I do not like the way it just bascially becomes 'Lorraine' at the end with the out-of-programme ident. It used to have a proper endcard to bookend the two shows.

Forever telling of separate shows, but don't separate them as such.

I agree with that too. I suppose the logos, graphics & music of the shows being the same creates the same programme that it shouldn't really be.

Even without the montage the ending music, and a pan out of the studio would work well with daybreak endboard. I think the crossover to Lorraine could air shortly before the close of the programme removing the post ending appearance of Ms Kelly. It would be nice to see her appear in the studio to have a chat and a preview every once in a while, so with the studios being apart, this may not be feasible.

I also liked the montage and credits and closing end board. Only because I wanted to hear the theme play out.
They are not that far apart, Adrian has visited Lorraine during Daybreak. Minutes apart, possibly a corridor away, not sure?

Out of interest, did ratings for "GMTV" include segments such as LK Today, whereas ratings nowadays will have Lorraine separate?

The main thing I've noticed about Daybreak is that it doesn't seem very long. When GMTV existed I could get up before work and put the TV on and sometimes flick past something of interest on GMTV. But now, by the time I get up, Daybreak is already long finished.

I think Daybreak should start at 6 and maybe continue til 9 before handing over to Lorraine; this way it'd catch those people who get up a bit later. Showing the Britney scoop at 8.30 would be preferable in my opinion than showing it at 7am and then having Lorraine on from 8.30.

It's 2 and a half hours long, the same length as the main part of GMTV was, you should try getting up earlier.

Of course the way to sort out Daybreak would be to move the successful Lorraine out of her very long running slot, and extend unpopular Daybreak into that slot. What a brilliant idea. Rolling Eyes

The problem with closing titles/montages is that they signify to the viewer that the programme they are watching has finished - which becomes a trigger to change channel...

It's one of the main reasons the BBC went from a closing sequence on the One/Six/Ten O'Clock news to the direct hand to the Nations and Regions.
