I do think Daybreak seems to be going the other way - even further down the 'light entertainment' route than GMTV.
In some ways I can see why - they can't compete with Breakfast when it comes to news and, in any case, Adrian and Christine aren't best suited to that kind of format. Could you honestly see Christine taking a politician to task in the way that Sian can?
So, if they don't want to do things like GMTV did and go after new audiences, their only real option is to go even more low-brow. It actually reminds me a lot of the kind of format that TV-AM or earlier GMTV had.
