Would it not be easier to open a Daybreak thread on the evening of September 5th, on the run up to the launch on the Monday morning? I find this current thread quite messy and it would be better to open a thread about Daybreak closer to the launch. The current GMTV thread could be used until then.
The same type of thing happened with Sky News' relaunch in 2005, it just seems more organised that way?
After a second thread was created, I figured it made sense to use them - especially as I get bored of giong to the GMTV thread to find out the latest Daybreak news only to discover someone's comments about what was on this morning.
Then I remembered what a song and dance members of this forum made at the smallest things...
Ok, Acutally giggling about this now. 6 pages already, and 5 of them are banging on about how this was bad timing for a thread. Personally, I'm getting fed up with having to dig through the GMTV thread, and would prefer two separate threads for two separate programmes, and I'm sure there are other members that feel that way too! others not so much. Fine. But at the moment there's more controversy about this thread, than the whole Sachsgate thing! We can of course wait until a big Press Release about Daybreak comes out, or until the 6th to carry on with this thread. GMTV as we know it is going to die on the 3rd. Daybreak is going to be new, so why not have a new thread to discuss something other than threads... I'm actually confusing myself now

Oh here we go!!! It's for this reason some people do not want two threads because you do not know what to post where for the b*tchy comments!
From now on - I will post where I want too. If you do not like it then do not read it - simple!
Daybreak thread - discussion about the new ITV1 breakfast show Daybreak
GMTV thread - discussion about the winding down of current ITV1 breakfast show GMTV
Seems quite simple to me. Of course there will be some overlaps at the moment but pretty soon I'd imagine GMTV will seriously start winding down, and at the same time more will emerge about Daybreak, trailers, studio pics etc

I don't know.. sounds confusing!
Presumably whether Helen Fospero is newsreader will depend on whether ITN actually produce the news bulletins or not? Would it be possible for GMTV - sorry, Daybreak - to produce the overall bulletin (so have their presenter in front of their camera going out to a nation la la la) but ITN produce the
contents
, or would this be pointless and ITV just want ITN to do it all?

Agreed! Soon this thread should hopefully get more exciting!

ITN can produce it in accordance to ITV's wishes, whether that's producing short bulletins like they did for The Big Breakfast or something more involved as they did with the C4 Daily beforehand and Reuters do for GMTV.
Although I think the service will be much more closely linked to ITV News, I think the ITV News brand will be secondary to the Daybreak brand initially at least.
So, do we think Kate Garraway will become all Jackie Brambles and spend a lot of time in LA reporting on showbizzy stuff? It will be interesting to see how the new format will work indeed. I can't imagine Kate hanging out on the red carpet for hours in heels, somehow. LOL. She will miss the comfort of that sofa.
