So many people with really strong opinions about the set. It hasn't even been shown in its entirety on television yet? Photographs of any TV set normally look very different to what is actually shown down a TV camera lense so I am reserving judgement. It looks good on the photos, 100x better than GMTV's set anyhow (or Breakfast's).
We haven't even seen the set lit properly as far as I can tell, the only photo with any lighting switched on has been a small one. I do love how this forum gets its knickers in a twist.
Well obviously it's subjective, but not every piece of design has to have a function.
I'm aware of that, Joe, it just felt a little out of place to me.
One of the very small twitter pics yesterday showed those frosted panels (for want of a better term) lit up in the same colour as the 'pumpkin' coffee table:
Perhaps they just add some colour to the set, other than purple and brown.
I'd imagine both the table and the acrylic flats are LED lit so can be colour changed if required - though yellow is presumably a nod to the ITV 1 colour?
A flat painted wall, or a wall covered in flooring isn't.
Can't that be easily overlooked by the windows, though?
I don't know - I've not seen the studio in use yet, and as I said a few pages ago, I'm witholding my opinion until then, but based on what I've seen, they're relying on the windows for all the interest in the studio, rather than making something which looks really good and is enhanced by the view.
That floor covered wall is still not better than a wall of barco's (or other manufacturers projection cubes).
Hey, just thought you'd might like to see an example of an International way of a Breakfast show using a live skyline backshot, this is from the Polish breakfast progamme "Dzien Dobry" on TVN in Poland.
Barcos aren't too bad, just as long as you work out in the design of the studio the physics of what camera angles to use and make it believable which is the key thing. So don't go writing off Barco based studios yet just because we've had a bad case of BBC use.
Did anyone else notice the "Earlier on Daybreak" graphic that briefly appeared on 'GMTV with Lorraine' this morning? I didn't see it animate but it was a small white rectangle with the purple text inside, persumably the Daybreak typeface, it appeared in the top right hand corner.

Yes of course it's a nod to the ITV1 colour, especially as the rest of the programme has ITV related branding. Or maybe its just part of the set design? I sm glad some of you on here are not controlling this new programme, it would be hideous.
