At no point did I - or to my knowledge anyone else - suggest viewers "will switch off" because of the photos. I was simply saying that from a publicity perspective I'm sure the team aren't as ecstatic as they could have been over the photos. Love them or hate them Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley are the thing to promote and push in people's faces and I personally know some marketers, photographers and designers who would have been mildly disappointed by photos that will no doubt have to be redone at a later date.
My comment was never meant in a particularly negative way to either the Daybreak team or to Christine Bleakley, and was more saying that (as someone who deals with professional and promotional shots, marketing and advertising on a fairly regular basis) those shots aren't 100% perfect.
Okay. But I still think these pictures are likely to be plastered all over the papers on Tuesday, and can't envisage newspaper or magzine editors refusing to run them in future articles simply on account of seasonal weather. And if that proves to be the case, they'll have done their job, 100% perfect or not.
Anyway, hopefully there'll be some shots of the studio on Tuesday as well ... so we can lay into them too (joke).
I can't believe we're discussing this aspect of the publicity shots so much - I really don't think it's issue.
Yes, newspapers will now have to rely on these shots of both presenters, but I really doubt viewers will switch off (or on to) Daybreak just because the Sun might print a picture of fake-tanned Christine in January.
