Rehearsals for the London regional news inject included the Daybreak clock and a purple ticker, with astons appearing in purple text against a white background which fades out towards the right of the screen. Not sure how final this is though - there's likely to be some tweaks before launch.

Pretty spot on to be honest.

Are the weather graphics those of ITV Breakfast or ITV Regional weather?

Aiming for them to be Daybreak is my understanding.

The pictures posted earlier on suggest that in that set the background behind the perspex is colourless, and any colour is added by washing with LED lighting (you can see the LED lights with the matrix of dots on them being diffused a bit). I suspect there are also LED lights hitting the frosted acrylic to give that a different colour.

That would be the sensible way of doing things - it allows much more precise control of colour on-screen than painting flats, and allows you to change colour without repainting.

The background was almost colourless, noggin, but a very light blue; and I thought that it had been changed to yellow to make the 'ITV News' colour more predominant at ITV in Britsol. Perhaps I was wrong.

I haven't seen an ITV News set for a 'post-Yellow' configuration, has someone else seen one who can confirm this?

What makes you think it was a very light blue?

What makes you think it was a very light blue?

It was very light blue, and of sturdy construction when I had my hands on one! My eyesight isn't dodgy, I think!

I had a discussion with Gavin (Metro) last year about whether or not it was a cyclorama. I convinced him otherwise.

As they were all 'production line' sets produced for every region (in small, medium or large) then I have every expectation that the others were the same.

I've no reason to think that the light blue in Plymouth was any different to the background anywhere else.

Fair enough, I just thought you were basing it on the photo on the other page, which to me looks like a grey tone rather than blue. Didn't realise you'd gotten so close! Wink

I seem to remember the conversation about board/cyc - was it on here and publicly?

I took the pic, it was on my mobile.

Yes, mine & Gav's debate about cyc/board was on the "New ITV News" thread. T'was all open and friendly for all to see.

Its interesting how were talking about a brand new programme, yet wondered off onto talking about a set that is six years old!

Central's is definitely grey:

So recolouring for Daybreak is a possibility.

But also interesting to notice how easily a set can be changed to match a new brand.

The ITV regional news set is designed to allow changes. It would be interesting to see if they have utilised that for the 'Daybreak' brand.
