Regarding regional news I was a bit confused to hear Charlene White (ITV London presenter) say on twitter "Will be rehearsing the new-style Daybreak London bulletins today. Daybreak is the new GMTV from 6th Sept. So it's all change round 'ere." Will there be changes then if the're rehearsals

Presumably they are doing full real-time rehearsals of Daybreak (albeit not at the proper time) and thus they need the regional news inserts to be involved. Not only will they need to see how the whole thing looks together but the regional news operations need to know their cues

Confused about what? Its quite clear what she is saying...

Well it isn't exactly clear she says Daybreak is the new GMTV etc - but if there's need for rehearals there must be quite a bit of a change to the structure of the updates or as Inspector Sands said - a proper rehersal.

Managed to sneak a peek at the rehearsals, but nothing major to report. Coming from Studio 4 as usual, but with Daybreak branding on the studio monitor and on-screen graphics.

Did you manage to see the set?

I'm sure if was moving from Studio 5 to 7 . Is Studio 4 just for rehersals?

It was just the London news rehearsal (not the actual Daybreak programme) so the set was the same.

Sorry - should have made that clearer.

So what were the Daybreak-ed "on-screen graphics" like? Wink

Hopefully there'll be better than the current GMTV lot - that's proberly one of the worst things about the GMTV design now. Some regions have a clock , some don't and they seemed to have been made by the region themselves rather than at GMTV. London's one has a clock that looks like it's been cut out in Paint with really pixelated edges! Also there're completely different to the GMTV clock , so there's no standard design.

All they need to do is have the Daybreak logo, clock stay on during the regional bulletins and make them fit with the Region names straps etc or use the main Daybreak name straps etc.

All very well saying they need to have the clock stay on during the regional news, but that isn't how it works. The regions effectively cut over the top of the main GMTV/Daybreak output, so the only way to keep the same clock is to generate it in each region. Which may well be what they do.

Well yeah that's what I meant - obviously each region is outputing their own graphics etc, but they should have the GMTV type clock generated in each region, instead of the mish mash they have now. Hopefully as you say, they might well do this with Daybreak.

You sure there isn't a way to have the logo overlayed from GMTV/ Daybreak? I know it's a different thing, but say the DOG for ITV1 HD, I don't think it is outputted by each region but stays on screen? Could you not have the GMTV/Daybreak clock outputted the same?

I think all the HD regions pass through one place (London) but each feed would have its own dog applied at that point.

You could have a clock applied in a similar way (assuming each region passes through the same place before it reaches your TV) but its a lot of effort when you can just give each regional studio the right graphics set up to do its own thing at their end.

Yeah I thought the could do it somehow, but as you say it's proberbly easier for each region to be given the right graphics and do it themselves.
