I heard the Daybreak news opts will recolour the sets purple in the regions, can someone please confirm this or is it just someone wishing they'd do it.

I wish they'd just scrap them, the bulletins are so lightweight and inconsequential.

The GMTV regional bulletins used to include proper weather and travel information in addition to the morning's local... erm, "news". I haven't viewed GMTV properly for a few years now but I think a lot of regions have now scrapped things like travel info. If so, why?

Central has 15 seconds travel news for the East and West Midlands, which as you can imagine, doesn't cut it really.

Thank you anoilyrag for advising us on the new show. I must say that I am sorry that Clare is leaving too, I have always found her a knowledgeable and experienced presenter and I hope that it is her decision to go rather than being pushed - as with Helen.

Thanks Anoilyrag. Much appreciated by all forum members I'd presume.

Sue Jameson gives GMTV some credibility so good to see she will still be around. Dan Lobb didn't work on GMTV but with the different feel of Daybreak it might be of better suitability to him.

What I want to know is will all the editors be in the studio every day? There's a lot of them. But I'd like producers to make it more of an ensemble piece alias The Early Show.

I notice the official GMTV Facebook page has changed it's name to Daybreak this morning. A sneaky way to keep all the fans! Laughing

One of the fans has posted on it saying he's seen what the new Daybreak clock will look like.

Yeah, just read that actually.

I presume they will be changing the GMTV profile picture in the next week or two, giving the page a quiet spruce up.

They had the time shortened because ITV don't give a **** to local news. They could axe the news at 6pm if they could get away with it Wink

Do Ofcom require regional news in the breakfast franchise, or was it just a decision taken by GMTV

Will there be a voiceover for the new programme?
If so, I have the perfect idea for one:

'From all over our world, to the heart of the nation's capital, this is Daybreak with Adrian Chiles & Christine Bleakley'

That decision was taken by GMTV/Sunrise when they won the Licence in 1991, but I think if they did want to drop Regional News then would have to get approval from Ofcom to do so.

I'd rather see the Regional News dropped, in favour of a Regional ticker or something, even if it wasn't for every Region, I'd find that more useful, the News updates aren't of much use, they're too short and repetitive. For ITV it doesn't make sense to have presenters in that early and they finish before 8am, with the next bulletin being 1.55pm it just doesn't make much sense.

ITV needs to assert exactly when the regional news is on during breakfast time, with GMTV it can be any time really.
