Some news on the Daybreak studio - Jonathan Paul Green (www.setdesign.tv) has designed the set, in the past he has created sets for Top Gear, QI, Loose Women and most recently Watchdog. Personally, I dislike all of those sets - but a morning show is different plus there is the added advantage of the riverbank view.

Seriously, comparing getting pregnant to posing for professional nude pictures?

I mean, seriously????????????

You've completely misunderstood what I was saying. I was saying if sex and nudity and public is so very wrong, that The Sun could pull up a potentially private photo (there is no way this photo was to be released in a Page 3-style shoot) of someone doing something frankly natural (I'm not saying it's right, simply that she didn't do anything most married men haven't seen before) and people on here believe that person should lose their future, unrelated employment because of it then clearly we're in a society where the very knowledge that someone has had sex would have similar repercussions.

Clearly those aren't my views, but it's a valid argument nonetheless. I also struggle to see the legal grounds for terminating her employment, given said pictures were taken some time before her apparent appointment to Daybreak and at that time she was not a representative, face or associate of Daybreak, GMTV or her new employers. She also has done nothing illegal and I don't see hundreds of people protesting outside The Sun's offices every time they print a Page 3...

And why are you under the assumption I am a child house?

Because you appeared on this forum at the same time as many students tend to as we approach the long Summer holidays and, like many students, have consistently bad and rushed spelling, grammar and punctuation. You also spoke largely in 'txt' form to begin with and tend not to listen to other posters yet rack up quite a post count.

In your defense you have improved considerably over the past days.

If you are not a minor then I apologise for that assumption, but my previous post made no reference to your age. I was genuinely interested to know what you were asking, as you're post wasn't clear. I wouldn't otherwise have gone to the effort of quoting you.

quite. The bottom line (no pun intended), is this- can she still do her job and have credibility in doing it? It's too early to say, but it's probably a no.

I can't imagine Tasmin Lucia Khan has been appointed based on journalistic credentials - mainly because, compared to many other broadcasters who I'm sure would have love that position, she doesn't have many.

Even the "insider" on one of the tabloids claimed she was "young, ambitious, attractive ... just the kind we want" - if they're hiring her mainly based on her youthfulness, looks and ambition then that photo only boosts their reasoning for appointing her.

Yeah a bit from their site:
Quote:
After a long and tortuous pitching process, I'm delighted to announce that I will be designing the brand new GMTV re-launch called Daybreak.

I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in with this very exciting project, and am so delighted to have got the job.

I'm now feverishly working away to get it all designed and built in time, which will be no mean feat.

I'm also involved in a slight update to the Loose Women set, which has to be complete at the same time for the new ITV launch.

So, exciting but busy times ahead....

Also as you say , I don't like the sets for them programme, But it's what them programmes people proberly wanted i.e they had an idea and the sets guys implemented it.

And also others there've done according to their site include:
- The Chase
- Current Loose Women set
- 1 vs 100
All of which I like.

Well, I have to say I'm not keen on this piece of news. I've taken a look at his website and have found that he is single-handedly responsible for some of my most hated set designs on television. However... there's every chance his designs for Daybreak won't be as bad - the window view over London, as you rightly mention, may make things seem a little better.

Does anybody know if the new programme is still going to be using purple as it's main colour scheme? Doesn't seem like the right choice - I would've thought blues, yellows, etc., though tried as tested as 'breakfast colours', would suffice.

I like the Top Gear set, as it integrates well into the TG feel and format, and have felt pretty positively about the HIGNFY and Mock The Week sets, but some of the others look awful. Watchdog and The Five O'Clock Show especially.

I think one of the keys to this is to decide what it is you're trying to do. Don't claim you want to base the show on an American News programme and then ignore their ways of doing it for a more British approach.

I can imagine this looking like quite a British set - we seem to have a more corporate, minimalist feel to our sets than in America (thinking the BBC, ITV, even C4 or Five News compared to ABC, FOX, CBS, NBC etc.).

Equally don't claim it's going to be newsy to rival Sky and the BBC and then appoint an Entertainment Editor and Christine Bleakley.

I'm happy for Daybreak to turn into whatever it ends up being, and I'm happy for Daybreak to spend time trying to find it's feet. But don't make misconceptions at the start about what you're going to be before you really know it's true.

That sentence brought a smile to my face.

The current Loose Women set is just awful, I'm lowering my expectations for Daybreak.

Well, unless the Mail have simply made up quotes for themselves, this article suggests that its pretty definite that Tasmin Lucia Khan will indeed be newsreader:

In terms of the pictures - whatever she does in her private life, that's her business. However - from a purely newsreading point of view - in my opinion there are umpteen newsreaders out there who would be more suited to the role.

Completely agree.

Degree from Oxford. Can read. Pretty face. Prior newsreading experience.

She fits the brief.

Besides which, it's hardly her fault the photographs got out. Can we leave this here, please?

Was there really a need to post a comment asking people not to comment?

This didn't add anything to your previously established viewpoint, it just demonstrated that you are able to use more than one type of keyboard. Perhaps it would be better if you stuck to the other one!
