What a bad move. Tasmin Lucia Khan annoys me even on 60 seconds and the filth the BBC markets as "E24". Helen would have been a much better decision - I can only hope Helen turned it down or has been offered something else, than producers just picking someone else.

I predicted Lucy V would end up somewhere else at some point - fairly good choice for Daybreak I suppose. Presumably she will share the job with Kirsty and cover for Kirsty when she goes on maternity leave?

Filth? Care to explain?

Can she read the news? That's all the airhead on the desk needs to do anyway. Be pretty and read coherently. At least Penny did the NewsHour too and has a relentlessly quick mind.

E24 (the nightly news version, not the weekend edition) is some of the most padded, unsuited programming I've seen on the BBC News Channel in a long time. It would seem out of place on Sky News even, despite Sky taking the more celebrity/ 'showbiz' stance compared to the Beeb (though that's becoming more noticable).

At least the weekend E24, while not perfect, features a more accurate and often less padded roundup of that weeks entertainment stories, including film and TV news.

Tasmin rushes her delivery, actually has poor diction at points and has seemed a fairly poor interviewer at points. She's much better suited to something like E24 or 60 seconds than news, though. As part of that position she presents Red Button updates each night and, while being a competent presenter, still doesn't seem that suited to reading news.

I can see why Daybreak picked her, though. You'd never see her on a programme like Breakfast or Sunrise, however, where as you would expect someone with more journalistic credibility like Helen Fospero to.

Someone posted earlier in this thread that there would be more announcements today. We haven't heard anything so far. I seriously can't see Tamsin getting the job now that The Sun have published those pictures - it would tarnish Daybreak's reputation very early on, wouldn't it?

I think you would have to put the pictures into prospective with her appointment., Take for example -Alex Jones the new presenter on the One Show, a day after her appointment, The Sun yet again posted nude photos of her, but it really didn't have a lot of weight. I think personally, Tamsin will do very well on Daybreak and these photos would not ruin the reputation of Daybreak - to be frank it hasn't developed one yet.

No. You've tried that once and it hasn't worked. Go away and stop being such a morally outraged Victorian dad.

Get a grip! You're starting to sound like the Daily Mail.

I wouldn't be as shocked if she was actually wearing something - but shes topless, and I just think if Daybreak is trying to be more newsy, it's a bit tacky to have a woman who's done topless photos reading the news.

Josh, for what its worth I don't think your reaction is that mis-placed. Launching a brand new family friendly show is a big deal - they're spending oodles on casting and then go and get a news reader who has a portfolio of pictures with her bangers out.

If I were producing it would certainly give me cause to pause and think if there are more skeletons in the closet to come.

That and some of the other comments about her competency delivering bulletins would make me think that they're not giving serious enough consideration to the news aspect of this new programme.

But hey - some people like fluff and jugs for breakfast; I like coffee and information.

But she won't be doing the news nude

I happen to agree -- it's not the end of world BUT I'm sure it's not ideal for the show's producers. A breakfast show must be family friendly after all.

Also, it does slightly throw into question the truth of her being Oxford-educated with a degree in politics and philosophy. Surely that kind of background would not see her taking her clothes off to make money?

Do you honestly think she sold the pictures to The Sun herself? She didn't make money from the photos, the photographer may well have done though.
