I was wondering what a newsreaders day is actually like - here's my thoughts on what it would be like for your average BBC Newsreader...
7.00am - Still Asleep
7.30am - Wake Up, wash, get dressed, have breakfast, brush teeth
8.00 - Taxi arrives outside your house
8.35 - You arrive at Television Centre
9.00 - you are breifed on the latest breaking news stories
10.00 - surf the internet and reply to messages on the TV Home forum, and reply to viewers emails.
11.00 - Another news meeting, and scripts come in for the evening programme.
12.00 - Lunch Hour - go to the BBC canteen and have a bacon butty.
1.00pm - sit in the newsroom, and watch the one o clock news
1.35 - start preparing scripts for that eveings programme with the news editor
2.00 - Download music from the internet, whilst keeping an eye on incoming news stories.
2.30 - Get the latest scripts hot of the printer, and rehearse them on the way to the news studio.
2.55 - learn your scripts whilst sat in make-up
3.15 - head into the news studio
3.25 - your live on BBC 2 for the afternoon bulletin
3.35 - head upstairs to the News 24 studio, and flirt with the female presenters
3.55 - Get kicked out of the N24 studio by the director for being a pest
4.15 - check on those news stories
5.00 - Final hour of preparation, your colleages check satellite links, prepare final scripts.
5.45 - head to studio, and learn scripts
6.00 - your live on air
6.30 - your off air, while the BBC regional news is on
6.30-6.56 - reply to emails at the newsdesk, and surf the net.
6.57 - remind the nation of the headlines and say good night
7.00 - stroll out of the news studio, and into the newsroom, to be greeted by the production team who clap when you walk in. Accept a bouquet of flowers from a 11 yr old child, and head to BBC Radio, to present your nightly topical news programme.
8.00 - your radio show goes on air.
9.00 - you head home
9.40 - you get inside your house, have a shower, and go to bed.
How close to reality am I ??
