It’s brilliant to watch these episodes from Series 1 air as they did back in the day, I’m assuming as they were only 30 minutes back then (if I’m remembering correctly) that tonight will be two episodes in one with a bit of commentary from Davina & Rylan.
I loved how raw the show was back then. It really was a social experiment. I can’t believe that A. I remember all of their names 20 years on and B. That I've just enjoyed them all doing an assault course task!
The Nasty Nick reveal was extended to over an hour so I think this is one episode. Wish they'd left the original titles and break stings in though, although this will have only had two ad-breaks at the time. The chat should be left for the beginning and end really.
Noticeable how few housemates there were back then - 7 with a month to go. In some later series they had 7 in the final.
This episode was 54 minutes long originally - if anything they'll have to cut it (and they've admitted they've cut some episodes for inappropriate content).
Glad they've flagged up Marcus's voice - really hope any revival would be without him as I literally can't stand the parody it became. Tried the odd episode of the C5 era but just could never get passed it.

I know, this was so much better for the simplicity of the whole show and for the small size of the cast. You felt like you could get to know them so well. The first series was cast so well with varying ages and personalities; for the first year they hit the ground running. I remember being at school at the time and the initial series ran into September... everyone was talking about it, we even discussed it in a sociology lesson, the cherry of the top was this whole fiasco with Nick.

I don’t understand the appeal of him ever overdoing and yelling the voice during the C5 era, it was so tacky and pantomime (but then again everything from that era was)
Watching that confrontation of Nick has brought back the same feelings that I experienced 20 years ago. It has transported me back to being a kid in my bedroom at home and had me transfixed. Wonderful television. The producers so cleverly allowed the housemates to hold the meeting rather than just evict him for breaking rules.
It all seems somewhat ridiculous as an isolated episode but it built up for weeks both on the show and importantly on the live feed, and beyond too. I remember the episodes, which aired at 11pm in the early weeks, going well past midnight and still getting something like 7m viewers which was crazy.

Do you mean the live feeds aired at 11? I don't remember actual episodes airing at that time.
