Dave only worked because it was quirky and original- hence why other UKTV channels that followed suit never really had the same impact (such as Blighty and Yesterday). Plus there aren't many male skewed channels, whereas there are tonnes of female orientated channels. Branding a UKTV channel a womans name could work but it would have to be directly to Dave so it can feed off the success, and showing that in some way that the channels are related.

Lucy ain't that common?

Lucy is kinda girly, but kind of fun, bubbly and bouncy. Other Common females names don't have that effect.

There would be no point in selling a channel to the public as the 'sister' of Dave, as it would need totally different branding, programming and ethos.

I think the two main points people seem to be forgetting/ignoring are that there already is a UKTV channel aimed at women, Really and it was just an April Fool's Joke...

I'd have prefered the name "Denise"

Now why is this thread still open?

Almost all of the UKTV channels are female skewed, people are merely discussing if the April Fools joke could work in reality. I reckon it could, I mean some of their channels are flagging and theres not much to lose.
